Thanks guys!!!
I’ve been stalking 2013 decisions threads for UPenn and I think I may get accepted… Am I being deluded or do I actually have a chance at UPenn?

so, you live in Oman, right? British School of Muscat? I visited a few weeks back :D

haha… actually not British School Muscat, though i do know a lot of students who go there :)

which school then? I got to know quite a few people there… Oman is nice
Good luck - send me pm!

bump!
What do you guys think about my chances for UPenn?

You have excellent SAT II scores and amazing GCSE grades. I think that your SAT Is and ECs are also good, although you haven’t done many technical/engineering related activities even though you want to major in engineering… Most people who apply for engineering do all sorts of math/science related things like math competitions, robotics, summer research, etc. But maybe that’s just because your school doesn’t have a lot of these activites… Also, I guess it sets you apart in a way if you are a prospective engineering major with a lot of other extracurricular strengths.

I think that you will probably get into all of the colleges in the bottom half of your list. And yes, I think UPenn might also be the more likely one of the Ivys - it also has a lot of international students. I’d say Penn is a low reach/high match. MIT also seems like a good fit except for the fact that you applied for financial aid, because that makes it more difficult to get into (since they aren’t need blind for international students). With the other Ivys I’d say reach because you can never be sure which way the decisions will swing.

All you neeed is some luck for these and write a great essay! make yourself stand out your past sounds very interesting.
i wish you the best of luck

I think the only possible negative thing would be your SAT I, which could be a bit higher.

You are a Pakistani, and I think that makes easier for you to go to Ivies than other asians, as not too many Pakistani people apply to US colleges.
Also, you have a great spec. Your GPA is a killer, and your SAT is close to decency as well. Your E.C is okay, but it could be better. BTW in some need-blind schools, Financial aid is an impartial process among all the students including the international.

MIT- Reach
UPenn- Low Reach
Princeton- Reach
Yale- Reach
Stanford- Reach

Thanks guys…
I was wondering, do my SAT IIs make up for my low-ish SAT scores? Or are they completely different?

bumppppppppp

Penn is need aware for internationals… does this hurt my chances if i’m a borderline candidate?

*** why are there only smart people on this forum.
i say all in haha but seriously you definitely have possibilities of getting into these schools

** ■■■ **

So here’s what’s happened so far:
MIT: Rejected
Lafayette Accepted
Carleton: Rejected
Lehigh: Rejected, citing FA as reason

Does this suck or what? What are my chances for Penn in light of this? (Percentage please – i’m an SEAS student applying for FA)

Did Lafayette offer you full ride?

nope 10char

im not very familiar with international applications
but if you were a domestic applicant.
i think you have a fighting chance at all these colleges but you should definitely work on your volunteering
perhaps an internship?
your tests and grades look excellent
