Some community service related to art and community.

I paint and draw whenever there is spare time (since kindergarten), I’m not a prodigy, but I turn out good pieces from time to time...
I write from time to time, I’m not stellar at this either but I like to believe I’m a good writer.
I will be sending in an art portfolio and a writing sample.

My concern is that I don’t have enough EC’s that tie me to the school community, I’m kinda introverted, but in college I’ll probably get “out there” more and interact with the student body as I didn't really enjoy my high school that much.

I am very passionate about art. I’ll try to focus my app on that or the problems that I had to face during my Junior year.

I went through a lot of family problems during my Junior Summer which messed up my focus for a while although the damage wasn’t very bad--a couple of B’s and a bit of soul searching...

I will be majoring in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology or Pre-Dental

I would be thankful if anyone would recommend any schools!

Well, it is really hard to chance an international with financial aid requirement. The admission process becomes all the more random in such cases. (I too was in your position last year  )

You seem to have a very good shot academically, your SAT subject scores are good enough (Well above average.) Though you should improve a bit on SAT 1.

Try to present your extra curriculars in a good light, like by showing how dedicated you were to them, and above all get stellar recommendations from teachers who know you well.

All this said, I would recommend you apply to a lot of colleges that offer your interests and financial aid, and hope some love you enough to shell out the money. (I did the same), You can research your colleges from this link : http://www.oacac.com/docs/IntFinAid.pdf</a> . It is a list of colleges that give financial aid to international students.

Hope that helps!!!

Thank you so much! :)

Speaking as another international who needs financial aid, I can’t give you an accurate guess on your chances but I’m wishing you all the best! Your stats are good. Just work on those essays and let your personality shine through. And who knows, maybe I’ll see you at Colgate next year :)

Dedication is important. You don’t have to get involved in numerous activities but those that you do you should be passionate about. Try to show your dedication, your personal experiences and improve your scores. I can’t really chance you since it is YOU as a person that might be admitted, not a list of scores and activities.
