Chance a Nervous Journalism Major?

I’ve always loved to write, and Emerson College is my absolute dream school. I’ve been nervously awaiting the admissions decision, so if anyone can chance me that would be a lifesaver!

SAT: M: 670, CR: 670, W: 680

UW GPA: 3.7
AP Lang (5), AP Stats, and AP Lit, 3 years of advanced English, 3 years of advanced Math, 3 advanced art classes.

EC’s include:
President of Drama Club (4 years)
leads in many plays
written two plays
secretary of literary magazine
poetry award winner
writer/actress/producer for a local film company with moderate success.

The thing I am most worried about is a 67 in trig my sophomore year (taken a year advanced, 97 on exam) and mediocre science grades overall.

Wrote an essay approved by many teachers, along with supplements for the honors college.

Good recommendations from my journalism teacher and Drama Club advisor who has worked with my written plays.

Schools I applied to:
Emerson College (top choice)
University of Maryland
Ohio University
Northeastern University
Syracuse University
SUNY Purchase
Columbia College Chicago
University at Buffalo

If you could chance me that would be incredible, thank you!

You’ll get in! Easily above the averages in GPA and SAT. If you have good essays, I’d say your chances are close to 100%. Good luck!

Emerson College (top choice) Match
University of Maryland Match
Ohio University Low Match
Northeastern University Match/High Match
Syracuse University High Match/Reach (if you applied to Newhouse)
SUNY Purchase Safety
Columbia College Chicago Safety (don’t know anything about this school but from what I read online it has like a 90% acceptance rate)
University at Buffalo Safety

Emerson College (top choice)=> academic match, but have you run the NPC? They do not meet need, and in fact “gap” a lot… so that, even if you do get in, it may well be completely unaffordable. You are allowed to borrow $5,500 for freshman year - can your parents pay the rest out of pocket?

I see several State universities: which ones are you in-state for?
University of Maryland=> academic match, but same question as above. No financial aid to be expected.
Ohio University => academic safety, likely merit aid
Northeastern University => low reach/high match. Have you run the Net Price Calculator? is it affordable?
Syracuse University => same thing
SUNY Purchase => Safety (unless you applied to a selective program). If you’re instate or can affod the OOS fees (which are much lower than in other States), I’d recomment New Paltz, perhaps Binghamton or Geneseo.
Columbia College Chicago => academic safety, lousy financial aid, so may not be financially possible
University at Buffalo => low match.
