I feel like my extracurriculars make up for my low GPA and decent SAT score. I interviewed at UVA, and the interviewer said to be safe I needed 3 As in my IB courses, and a 4.2 ish GPA. I'm slightly lacking these requirements. However, do my extracurriculars compensate for this? In my essays, I will write about how my extracurricular activities and how they relate to my intended major (especially the internship, deca, fbla, etc.)

ANY ADVICE / Input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much,

nothing guys?!?! Please please please!!

UVA doesn’t interview? Did you chat with an admissions person instead? We were also told (through the alumni liaison program) that a few B’s were not the end of the world. I like your EC list too, its reasonably directed and looks like you keep busy. UVA is a tough call for anyone to truly make in these “chances” threads, but I’m thinking getting the best junior grades possible and carrying on at a similiarly high level next year will be important. Further, I’d say to look at your school’s statistics through your Blackboard/ Naviance page. My child’s page in FCPS shows her school’s averages for SATs and GPA accepted. Looking within the context of Marshall will probably give you a pretty good idea of how you will do in the admissions process. For her school, the GPA is higher but your SATs are not too far off the average- for what that is worth. Recognize that you can’t apply to the Comm school until your second year at UVA. I’m guessing your intended major is in there, from your post, so make sure you seem to understand that in the essay. Good luck! UVA is a great place to spend your college years.

Bump bump!! Please!
