<p>NYUAD is looking for students who demonstrate both academic qualifications and a sense of global citizenship. That might sound a bit lofty, but it’s basically the idea that as the future is increasingly globalised, the types of people who will best suceed are those who have made global connections and have an appreciation of global cultures, which would be augmented with actual experiences of these cultures. It takes a special type of student (not necessarily a good or a bad thing) to be willing to ditch the typical college experience for something like NYUAD, but I would say that there is a unique type of wisdom that comes with frequent travelling and exposure to many different culture, which cannot be taught by books (>60% international i.e. non-US students).</p>
