Chance a Nervous Student Please!

Hi I am a high school senior who attends a highly ranked public school in CT (top ten in the state). I know that my GPA isnt that great but I am hoping that I still have a shot at some of my schools. Throughout high school, I have taken 5 honors and 4 AP classes (none were offered for freshmen).
GPA (UW): 3.5
GPA (W)- 3.7 ish (my school doesnt do official weighted GPAs or class ranks)
QPA: 16 (equates to an A- average)
SAT: 2060 superscored
660 Math
670 CR
730 W
Subject Tests: 750 US History
710 Biology

Reccomendations from my AP Biology teacher, Honors US History and Honors Humanities teacher, and one non academic one from a personal instructor at a Yale reproductive biology lab.

EC's:
Community Service Program Leader: paid position in which I organize many of the dances, fairs, and other events at my local community center. I gained this position after the many hours of community service I did over the years.

Community Service- I currently have about 150 hours of service, ranging from helping in soup kitchens at my community center to helping out at Pakistani medical centers.

Discovery to Cure Yale Medical Internship- selective 8 week international internship at Yale University (accepts 10% of over 300 applicants) where interns are paid to work in medical labs with prestigious researchers and present their findings in front of over 100 yale staff, fellow interns, and parents.

NCMNH Intern- I interned for 2 weeks in the Pakistani National Committee for Maternal and Neonatal Health, where I participated in numerous national projects to help decrease many birth-related mortality issues. I also helped design the blueprints of the new layouts of the center and also helped create the organization's website.

Billing Assistant in a Pediatric Medical Practice (ivy-league affiliated)
Outdoor Track and Field (9th - 12th grade): JV and Varsity
Debate Team (11th and 12th grade): Varsity Team
Cancer Research Club: (11th and 12th grade)

Model UN (11th and 12th grade)
Republican Club (12th grade)
Muslim Awareness Club (12th grade)
I have also shadowed a few medical physicians.

I am of Pakistani origin by the way.

Colleges I am applying to (there are a lot!):
Amherst College- big reach
Bates College
Boston College- sort of a reach: i know not-so-smart people who got in and geniuses who got denied
Boston University
College of the Holy Cross
Conn College
Fordham University
NYU
Trinity College
Tufts University- pretty big reach
Union College-
UCONN-
University of Rochester
Villanova University
Wesleyan University (ED)- reach but ED acceptance rate is around 50% so im praying ill get in
Yale University- mega huge reach (my mom is a medical professor there so im just taking a shot)

I want to go to school in the Northeast area so that I may stay close to home. Could anyone please tell me if I have a good chance at some of my schools? Thank you so much for your time!!

I forgot to mention that I am trying really hard to get a good GPA in my first semester of senior year. My school also does quarterly GPAs and for the first quarter I had a 3.8GPA. Also, I am a first generation college student.

Amherst College- out of reach
Boston College- reach
Boston University-match
NYU-high match
Tufts University- reach
UCONN-low match
Wesleyan University (ED)- low reach
Yale University- out of reach
Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1576721-chances-updated-computer-science-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Bump…I will always chance back by the way.

I’m confused. You wrote you are a first generation college student and that your mother is a medical professor.

My parents both attended school in Pakistan and got their medical degrees from there. My guidance counselor told me that because they attended school in a different nation that I would be classified as a first generation student, but he could be wrong.

bump bump bump

buuuuuuuummmmp

Amherst College- reach
Bates College- low match
Boston College- high match
Boston University- high match
Fordham University- match
NYU- match
Trinity College- low match
Tufts University- reach
Union College- low match
University of Rochester- high match
Wesleyan University (ED)- high match
Yale University- No way

Your ECs are insane and should help you with most of these schools. Your SATs are decent, gpa a little low for some of these. I wouldn’t change your list much though because you have a good range of safeties and reaches. Good luck and please chance back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1576421-what-my-chances-getting-into-usc-ucla-nyu.html</a></p>

You are not considered first generation college student. Be very careful when you fill up the application.

Thank you all so much!

bump bump bump

I’m Pakistani as well /high fives/

As previously stated, your extra curricular activites are off the charts awesome.
Your SAT score is decent, I mean, you’re right when you say Yale is a mega reach.
GPA wise, I’d have to say its low for Yale as well.

I think your extra curriculars will favor you the most at this point, but I think your list, while a little on the tough side, is sufficient. Good luck with your ED!

Help me out? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1577651-gpa-question.html</a></p>

Thanks! Bumpity BumP!

Amherst College- high reach/reach
Bates College- unfamiliar sorry!
Boston College- unreliable like you mentioned, but mid-reach
Boston University- low, low reach. almost a safety
College of the Holy Cross- unfamiliar
Conn College- mid-reach/low reach
Fordham University- low reach
NYU- reach/low reach
Trinity College- unfamiliar
Tufts University- high reach
Union College-unfamiliar
UCONN-reach/low reach
University of Rochester-unfamiliar
Villanova University-reach/low reach
Wesleyan University (ED)- match/low reach
Yale University-high reach, but you never know!
GOOD LUCK!

chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1577930-yet-another-chance-post-check-out-maybe.html</a></p>

Buuuuuuuummmmmmmp!

Bump bump bump

bump bump bump

Nova, Fordham, ConnCol, UConn, Trinity, Union are all matches. Yale and Amherst are pretty ballsy choices but your EC’s are a knock out so you might get there. Any others I didn’t mention are probably like reaches-low reaches. Good luck man!

I agree pretty much with the post above besides you do have a decent shot with Yale and Amherst. Not really ballsy, have a shot. Good luck! Please get me back.
