chance a prospective applicant? pleease!!

I just finished my junior year a couple days ago. I'm thinking of starting some of my college apps during the summer just to lighten up the workload when I start school again.

My school is public but very competitive, ranked as one of the top in the state/nation. So there's a lot of ridiculously smart kids and challenging teachers.. I've been taking all honors/AP since 9th grade, and I'm the kind of kid who works their butt off and still end up with b's. Here's a quick list of my stats and activities. Please take it seriously and tell me if I'd have a good/poor chance of getting into NYU

GPA: WEIGHTED 3.82

(had a C+ in 10th grade, first semester of AP US history. raised to an A second semester. Then got another C+ in AP biology 11th grade, raised it to a B second semester. My total gpa doesn't seem too bad, but I'm worried because I've had almost straight B's my junior year. It just evened out to be a decent number because I take so many weighted 5 pt. courses)

SAT Reasoning: superscored 2280

SAT Subject: Japanese 790, Math IIC 780, Biology 700, maybe taking literature in October. I got a 680 on US history, but don't want to put this one in.

AP Exams: AP US History 4, waiting for Euro, Bio, English scores.

Community service: volunteered at an orphanage in Japan, played piano and flute for church.

EC's and leadership: was first chair flute for concert band in 10th grade (then moved up to higher band), founder/president of a charity club, tae kwon do (still a beginner though)

awards: national merit (not sure about semifinalist, but commended for sure), won 3 art contests (one national, one regional, one county), 2 flute competitions, 2 national spanish exam awards.

Others: took a philosophy and art history class in a community college, got A's in both.

should i apply to nyu in the fall, or will it be just a waste of time and money?
serious answers please.. thanks!

[edit]
sorry to make this so long. But just in case you need it, this is my senior year schedule:
1. AP Calculus AB
2. yearbook
3. AP government
4. AP Physics
5. AP SPanish
6. AP Literature

You look like an interesting person, and you should definitely apply. First, your weighted GPA is perfectly fine (don’t know about your unweighted, or if your school releases it). Your SAT reasoning is above what you need, and so overall you’ll come off as a relatively intelligent person. If you get another SAT subject around 740+ that would look pretty good.

Now, about this: “volunteered at an orphanage in Japan”
If this was really something significant you did, maybe write your essay about it?
I mean, there are things that you end up doing which you don’t really care about as you do them, but then later you get to say that you did them: if this is one of those things, then don’t write about it. If it was something you actually did and put yourself into, then this could really make you stand out. The only problem is that community service/charity type things are becoming clich

Are you applying ED or RD? What is your UW GPA, since colleges in general want it UW. Your SAT is really good, and so are your SAT II’s. You have a good chance for CAS.

I think it’s absolutely worth applying to. You may have B’s but if your school is as competitive as you say, NYU will see that when you apply and take notice. Your background and test scores are exactly what NYU wants. GO FOR IT! My scores and grades were good obviously, but your test scores are better than mines and I got accepted into the school for the class of '13.

im really suspicious of the charity club. not really a nationally recognized club. if you’re really interested in charity, show your interest in it by describing your activities. however, the closest thing academically is a socal worker undergraduate program but if you’re not applying for that im not really sure it shows out.

i didnt even do any community service at all to get in NYU CAS last year but i did express my interests in math with my extracurricular activities in and outside of school. my GPA is lower thans yours (EDIT: nevermind. i was comparing my unweighted GPA with your weighted one.). i was decent in academics so i guess academics wasnt the “click” that got me in but was high enough to be accepted.
