I'm a white girl from California applying in SoC as a theatre major, with future plans of (hopefully) getting into the musical theatre certificate program.
GPA: 3.84 UW, 4.06 W
ACT: 34
Subject tests: Literature 700, Biology 690, Math 2 580 (though I didn't send in math when sending official scores because it's not very good)
APs: I've taken 9 APs throughout high school (5 on Psychology & Lang/Comp, 4 on Bio, 3 European History, and an embarrassing 2 on music theory)
Rank: Top 10% (the UC system says I'm the top 9% as well) of a class of 664
Senior Schedule: AP Lit, AP Stat, AP Am Gov, AP Art History, Physics, Vocal Production, Drama, After-school musical rehearsal, after-school show choir rehearsal.
Extra Courses: I've taken Psychology of Human Sexuality (with a high A grade) and Jazz Dance last summer at a local community college as well as US History the summer after my sophomore year because I had no room for it in my junior year schedule.
Leadership & ECs: Co-President of Gay-Straight Alliance, Thespian Society Secretary, Show Choir President, Officer in club that does community service supporting the arts in middle and elementary schools, National Honor Society member
Work: I'm currently employed as a personal assistant/IT person for real estate consultants.

I'm incredibly involved in my school's performing arts program, investing many after-school hours being part of over 30 total productions including jazz, opera, musicals, concerts, an original musical revue, straight drama, etc, and did intensive workshops at UCLA specializing in musical theatre and auditioning for college.

My common app essay is about my interest in the betterment of sex education in schools and how society views sexuality (which I hope is somewhat unique and interesting?), and I intend to minor in Gender Studies, and specify this in my app. I'm writing my Why NU essay tonight but I think I've planned it out well and it covers my knowledge of the school and the various reasons it appeals to me.
I've also attended a info session held by an NU rep at my school.

NU is one of my top choices by far, so I'm hoping for the best. College is scary!
