WEAKNESS
ACT 32
SAT SUBJECT TEST: 700 lit, 700 Math I

STRENGTH- LEGACY

Common App Essay- important experience. When I was 8, my younger brother who has autism and mom moved to Boston because adequate therapy could not be found here in Baton Rouge. My essay talks about my reaction to that incident, which has been meeting with professionals in the area to construct a full business proposal for an autism treatment center in Baton Rouge (other families should not be split like mine due to autism) Very well written though (haha not like the above)

I know my scores are weak... can my ECs/business proposal make up for it? oh and my legacy?

by the way- also interested in Brown, Penn, Duke, Vandy

sorry im so lame and keep posting on my own thread!!! but i forgot to mention i am a white jewish female

are you a legacy to Dartmouth?

While admission to Ivy League (and Ivy-esque) schools cannot be guaranteed to anyone, I think you have a great shot at any of them.

Your ACT score is really not that low, its still probably within the mid-50% range.
Your SAT II scores are a little on the low side, but still, not dangerously low.

You seem to have a tremendous amount of community service and volunteering, so hats off for that.

Also, living in Louisiana is an advantage, as opposed to living in New England (like myself)

Dartmouth - low reach/reach
Brown - low reach/reach
Penn - low reach
Duke - high match/low reach
Vandy - match (I’m not extremely well informed about Vanderbilt, sorry)

whoaaaaa. i really think u got a chance, and a big one at that hehe
i think if u have good essays and recs and stuff u should be able to get in
but hey what do i know hehe i’m applying for dartmouth rd too

evilspartan92- yes, I’m a legacy at Dartmouth. As for the Louisiana thing, somewhat helpful at Dartmouth, Brown, Penn etc… not great for Duke unfortunately :(. (Dartmouth/Duke are my #1s)

Thanks for chancing!

thank you for giving me feedback earlier!!

Dartmouth - low reach/mid reach
Brown - low reach/mid reach
Penn - low reach
Duke - high match/low reach
Vandy - don’t know much about it

They’re also my #1s as well. Place a lot of emphasis on your community service and the stuff dealing with autism! Hopefully we can each get into both of them!! Good Luck!

Thanks for the advise!! My entire essay has to do with growing up with autism in the family, especially in a town with NO available therapy, and how this experience has motivated me to create a business plan with professionals in the area to prevent other families from going through similar hardship… SO i think I covered the “autism” aspect.

How would you suggest i emphasize community service more? I included my community service awards, and all of my activities are on my resume… any other suggestions?? I’ll definitely mention in interviews…

Good luck to both of us- those two really are the PERFECT school, aren’t they?!

I think what you included above about what you’re trying to do to emphasize the community service is good. Your teachers should also stress the importance of your community service and ultimately the impact in which you have had.

They both really are PERFECT!! You have legacy at Darmouth, and I have it at Duke - so we’ll see how much that helps us!
