Can you Chance me for
UPenn
WashU
Johns Hopkins
Duke
Rice
Vanderbilt
Emory
Tulane
Georgia Tech
UGA

UPenn--- Reach, but its a reach for anybody
WashU--- reach, but with a good essay and interest you have a shot
Johns Hopkins-- Reach, but posible
Duke--- Reach, may be posible
Rice-- Slight reach, but pretty good shot
Vanderbilt-- slight reach, bout same as rice
Emory-- Slight reach, but probably in
Tulane-- Match, maybe even merit aid
Georgia Tech-- Match/safety
UGA--- Safety, but still really good school

The main thing you may have going against you is that you dont really have anything that really jumps out and says "pick me". That said you are a really strong applicant academically. When i say "reach" i mean that you have a pretty good shot, but i wouldnt put money on it. Also, i think that with a great essay, very personalized recs, and an extreamily coherant application(easy to understand, not messy, highlights best points.), you have a good shot at any of your schools. Well good luck. My thread is somewhere on the first page of the "What are my chances" section. Its titled "Chances?? Por Favor". I dont know how to link it. thanks

Hi! I'll chance you ... but can you chance me too? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/538677-please-chance-me-i-d-really-really-appreciate.html.

Your GPA is good and you demonstrate an upward grade trend, so already you're not too weak. You obviously have challenged yourself with Honors and APs, so that can help compensate for your GPA. Your SAT is pretty good at a 2140, but your CR is a tad low for my taste ... but I'm sure you'll do fine. Your SAT subjects are great, and you'll earn a lot of college credit with the 5's that you have ... but again, English seems like your "Achilles Heel." Your PSAT of 212 should earn you a Commended Scholar award, but really that depends on the state you live in. Your activities are decent, but it may sound somewhat typical with your orchestra + sport combo. I like how you're a Latin nerd too!!!!!! It makes me feel happy .... =-) !! Ok I might be just wierd, but I'll keep going on my analysis. You're welcome to put your track awards on your app ... but how much does it represent you? That's just something to keep in mind. And I see that you did well on the NLE ... congrats! I couldn't take it because we had a state standardized test ... it sucks. Anywho, your experience at the CDC thing is interesting ... I recommend that you mention it in your essays and show how it affected you (or not ... I wasn't there to know).

Just like what lazydog said, I really don't see anything interesting in your app except for your CDC thing ... everything's just pretty typical ... the usual stuff. That is why I gave you a "reach" for most of the Top Schools you applied to. However, don't take this the wrong way, because you are a very good student and you obviously worked hard in high school. But, you need to realize that most people who apply to top schools have also worked hard in high school. At this point, there's not much saving left to do except for the essays. Do a good job in those and you could boost your chances.

Chances:
UPenn: Reach -- but I heard its applicant pool dropped this year and admission rates went up ... good news for you!
WashU: Reach
JHU: Reach
Duke: Reach
Rice: Slight reach
Vanderbilt: Slight reach
Tulane: Not familiar
Georgia Tech: Safety
UGA: In

Good luck, and remember to chance me too! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

Instead of saying reach, match, and safety ill estimate some statistics

I think you'll get into all of them if your essay and recs are good.

UPenn - 45%
WashU - 60%
Johns Hopkins - 60% ( you'll get in if you show this is your top choice, if you act like it's a fall back for other schools you'll have a harder time )
Duke - 65%
Rice - 70%
Vanderbilt 80%
Emory 80%
Tulane 99.99%
Georgia Tech 99.99%
UGA 100% you can probably get in with signing your name lol

I'd say in at all for sure, except a slight reach at JHU, and Duke. And maybe Rice, but that's prob a high match/low reach.

Penn is a reach, but then again, isn't it for everyone? maybe i'll see you at emory or gtech next year lol

UPenn - reach
WashU - in
Johns Hopkins - reach
Duke - reach
Rice - slight reach
Vanderbilt - reach
Emory - in
Tulane - safety
Georgia Tech - safety
UGA - in

Please chance me?

Rh. and GSW fan are being VERY optimistic....just FYI

UPenn - 15%
WashU - 20%
Johns Hopkins - 40-50%
Duke - 35%
Rice - 30%
Vanderbilt 50% (i seen ppl with similar stats as you get waitlisted...so i dunno)
Emory 50%
Tulane 90%
Georgia Tech 80%
UGA 100%

You shouldn't even go to college because your scores are so weak. Everything is actually.

sarcasm

bump....please
