Academics:

GPA - Unweighted: 4.00
GPA - Weighted: 5.00
Class Rank: Should be top 1% with class size of ~500.

Sophomore Year (all A's)

English 2H

World History AP
Calculus BC AP
Chinese 4H
(no sport)

Junior year
English 3H
Physics H
APUSH
Stats AP
Chinese AP
Computer Science AP
(no sport)

Scores:

SAT I:
CR: 680
MA: 790
WR: 730
Ughh I know, it's hideous, but I took it cold, and will re-take for sure. I'll try to self-study this summer.

SAT II:
-Math II -800
-Chinese -800
-Took World History and Bio this June, scores aren't out yet. Definitely didn't get 800's, but hopefully higher than 700s. MIGHT retake.

Extracurriculars:

Significant Extracurriculars:
-Link Crew (Planning Committee): Starting next year. Helps freshmen adjust to high school culture and life. As part of the ~15 man Planning Committee, we manage the ~150 junior and senior Link Leaders. We also plan events for the freshman and hold occasional academic followups in-class.
-Freelance Graphic Design (Founder): I design logotypes and do general graphic work for small dotcoms and affiliates. Started freshman year. Yearly income of $10,000+. Amount of money I bring in is proportional to the amount of projects I get.
-Photography: Started this year. Have been published in Teen Ink (circulation ~half million). Will be entering other photography competitions as I have time this summer.
-Math Club: Hosts AMC 10, 12. Selects individuals to participate in local competitions. Probably will be board member next year.

Volunteer/Service Work:
-Key Club (Divisional Executive Assistant, School Junior Representative): Two assistants help the LTG, who oversees the division of about 15 school clubs. School Junior Representative communicate between the board and the class that they represent. I pretty much attend at least 1 weekend Key Club event per week. From freshman year, I should have around 150 hours combined.
-California Scholarship Federation (Vice President): Not sure how this will go down, as I wasn't a board member this year and will be VP the coming year. I DO know that our CSF actually holds regular community service events so we will probably have to scout out opportunities.

Honors and Awards:
School ones such as Departmental Awards in math/world history.
HOBY Delegate school finalist
international poster competition, honorable mention
Key Club ones both at District (California, Nevada, and Hawaii combined) level and divisional (15 or so schools) level. I was technology/bulletin board member during my sophomore year, and mainly they were about that. I also designed the Divisional t-shirt for next year.

Colleges of Interest:

I don't know for sure. Chances are I'm going to UCLA or UCB but I'd like to keep my options open for Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, Yale, etc.

So do you think I have a fair shot at the Ivies I mentioned? I know I have less EC's than most others on here but I try to go into serious depth in the few that I do. Am I not doing enough of something?

Thanks to your advice... and a thanks to jonny ;D

good stuff bro, good acadmenic credentials.

UCLA - match
UCB - match
Harvard - high reach
Stanford - reach
princeton - reach
yale - high reach

keep it up bro, all the top ivies (HYP) are reaches for most people dude, work hard and itll pay off

chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/733636-mediocre-gpa-pretty-good-sat-score-please-chance.html</a></p>

If you get your SAT up like you want to, it would be a crime if you were rejected from UCLA and UCB. HYPSM are all reaches but you’ve got the credentials, write great essays and hope for the best. ;)

Please chance back:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/733802-great-app-except-ecs.html</a></p>

Thanks for the chances, I chanced you guys back on your threads.

I forgot to add that this summer I’ll be heading to Taiwan to volunteer. I’ll be getting around 60 hours of solid community service.

You have an undisputedly stellar academic record - 4.0 - I’m sure that your standardized test scores are fine, especially if you retake them. Founding your own business is definitely a big plus and your other EC’s seem adequate. On the other hand, your ORM status may be a detrimental factor to top schools, but I’m sure that your volunteer work along with your EC’s in general will help curb that. Best of luck regardless!

you’re a def in for the UC’s
Ivies, as always, are a crapshoot
best of luck

Thanks for the chances guys.

SAT II subject test scores came out today - 800 in World History and 770 in Bio E. Dunno if I should retake the Bio.

Check out some safety schools like Cornell or georgetown. But you’re in at all the UCs.
HYPS are reaches though. If you get the SATS up, then you have a larger chance than the 10ish percent admission rate.
I think there is a solid/decent chance you will get into one HYPS.

chance back http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/733304-chance-schools.html</a></p>

Chanced everyone back. Is Georgetown worth it if I’m not doing anything related to poli sci?

def in for all the UC’s
reaches for all the rest, cause they are for everyone!

nice sn. haha i love snl

Bring up your CR for your SATs and I’m sure you have a good shot at the UCs.

Your stats are crazy. Of course you’re in at the UC’s and I would say probably in at least one HYP. Try other Ivy’s that may not be as selective, and you’ll have a great shot. Not bad SAT scores, but I’m sure you’ll bring it up. Good job!

Thanks Melissa, but I’d say your stats are crazier (35 in ACT? Impressive :D)

Chanced everyone who posted links back

looking pretty good. Try some lower Ivies, for a better shot (penn, brown, cornell)http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736144-chance-upcoming-senior-my-school-picks.html</a></p>
