If I were an admissions officer, I would think like this:

Your GPA looks good.
Your PSAT looks bad.
Your extra curricular look above average.

And I’d still need to see your essay and interview. So I’m saying you can go to top schools, but Ivy leagues are going to be very challenging. Of course, you can make it if you try very very hard now, but with your current status, I would put you on the waiting list (granted you go 2100+ on SAT)

golfer, seriously just stop bumping this thread.

From what I can see, if all of your predictions prove to be true, you have an excellent chance of being accepted to any university in the country. A student at my school was recently accepted to Princeton University with a junior year GPA of only 4.57. On top of that, she is accepted on a scholarship, has less extra curricular activites, and we attend one of the worst schools in New Jersey, of which she was only number 3 at the time. However, she applied with almost-perfect SATs and ACTs, never earned any B’s, and achieved 5’s on AP Languge & Composition, AP Chemistry, and AP Computer Science A Exams, but a 3 on the AP US History exam. She was deferred from MIT, and I was concurrently shocked and elated when I heard she was accepted. In short, when looking at this, you appear to have excellent chances, but I’ve heard of students far more qualified being denied from schools of equal stature, so you can certainly continue to improve your chances, but you can never gaurantee acceptance.

how about you enjoy your sophmore year without going crazy. You are in 10th grade! If you let this process get to you in 10th grade, good lord, I would hate to see you in the middle of junior year. Enjoy this year, because Junior year will be harder and have much more pressure.

kjw72292-I really hope what you said is true lol
that’s really amazing that your friend got into Princeton, I’d kill to go there
I’m just trying to work as hard as I can to make sure I have a fighting chance, although you never know who’s going to be reading your essays.
Thanks!

Nachal92- lol yeah Junior year isn’t gonna be a walk in the park
but once you break the top 50 kids at my school they’re taking 3-5 APs each, so it’s almost necessary to take that load to have a good rank, and the teachers are HARD, so it’s not like you can walk into an AP class and walk out with an A
Thanks!

Why do people keep saying “bump” and “bump10char” ???

What do these things mean?

it just means that your thread gets “bumped” to the first page, and the 10char part stands for “10 characters” because you need at least 10 characters to post something.

ummmm…please don’t bump this anymore.
I think you’ve got a really good chance at top universities if you amp up your ECs and get good SAT scores. Since you’re a rising junior I’m guessing that you’ll take the PSAT again. If so, then good luck. Try to break 200! Other than that, I can only say that it is really hard for people to chance you during sophomore year without a total GPA of all three years and no SAT scores whatsoever. Come back when you’re ready to apply for college, I’m sure we’ll all be more than happy to chance you then.

Thanks fairy_dreams!
Yeah I’ll keep that in mind, I know it’s kind of hard to give an accurate chance this early.

bumpppppppppp

i agree with those people above. if you get your tests scores up, you’ll have a better chance. that’s the only weakspot in your application though. everything looks really good – good luck (:

Thanks!
I’m going to work really hard this summer in order to get my SAT/PSAT scores up.
