Hello mr miselis. I think your chances are good. I too have had a hard time with the sat i only got a 1590. I just took the June act and got a 25. We are the same type of student and the act is the way to go. I will be taking the act again in September

Thanks for the advice! Anyone else have any thoughts?

I got accepted with a 3.0 average and a 1690 on my SAT’s. Granted i wasn’t applying to newhouse but still the thing i like about Syracuse is that they’re not just about the stats. Which is why you should probably interview and if a college rep from cuse comes to your school make sure you see them. I staid after with the college rep for an hour by myself just talking about Syracuse, pretty much sucked up the whole time but whatever you have to do haha. But also make sure you have a sick college essay, since you’re going newhouse and with your experience you probably won’t have a problem with this.

Thanks for the good words, Dan… That has always been my hope. Based on what I’ve seen on their profile on college board, it appears a lot of things go into their admission decisions that dont involve academics… It would be a dream come true for me to attend Syracuse…

Appreciate the feedback.

Bump… Anyone else? What appears to be the better decision for me: ED to Northwestern or Syracuse?? Chances wise, what is my best option?

Please comment in both of my threads. Thanks!

Northwestern because its admit rates are lower

Northwestern’s Medill School is easier to get into than Newhouse??

Any comments left?

Miselis: The only comment I have is on your second choice school option; if your goal is to do something in comm (and even possibly transfer to Newhouse after freshman year), I think that the comm and rhetorical studies major in VPA is a better second choice; there are alot of kids in there that are following the comm route even without Newhouse…

Also, check out ETS (english textual studies) in arts and sci…may also fit the bill…

and I think NW Medill (or overall) is a harder admit; keep in mind that they split their journalism and comm into two diff schools (Medill and School of Comm) both are great but very different…

FYI, if you are accepted to your 2nd choice option at SU for ED it is NOT a binding option…(didn’t know if you knew that)…

Hey Rodney,

Thanks for the feedback. I am aware that if I’m not admitted to Newhouse ED, that it isnt a binding option and that I can consider my offer along with the other regular decisions I would receive.

I’ll have to look in to those other programs you are speaking of, also. I was interested in pursuing a minor in sports management, but I’m always keeping my options open…
