I’m not really sure how to chance you since I’m from CA and I don’t really know how your grades translate to a UC GPA since my grades were out of 4 not 5 unless they are AP classes which are weighted (so A=4, B=3, etc unless in an AP/IB/honors course where an you add an additional point to your grade, then the average of your scores equals your GPA ). Also only 10th and 11th grade grades are calculated as part of your GPA, and you would only count A-G classes ( so typically wouldn’t include gym). And I read somewhere I think that honors courses taken out-of -state are not weighted. So you might want to go re-calculate your GPA. I think your test scores are maybe a little above average and your extracurriculars are around average too. So not calculating in your GPA or an amazing personal statement, I’d say UCSD is probably a bit of a reach for you.

Teachers-Aid sounds like a wasted period. Overall I think you would be qualified for UCSD

right now the most sensible thing to do is go to:
[University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu/)

click on custom tables [or explore the site if you wish] and fill in the info. since they have uploaded 2009 as the most recent stat stuff, that’s the closest you will get.

to be honest, you have a decent shot. same with every other person who applies to UCSD. Everyone has a shot at getting admitted however, it is up to you to make it enticing to the admission’s officer. it’s great you have asked these chance questions before the last minute comes, so i suggest you work on making your application amazing.

My personal suggestion, since you have so many E.C’s is to pick the best ones that represent you. For example [ this is JUST AN EXAMPLE, DO NOT TAKE THIS IDEA UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING]
I personally never really understood National Honors Society. It was something you could willingly join so i was never very “pleased” with it. In fact i never even joined NHS. So when it acme to my application, i could have joined NHS and put it on there , but i decided that I wasn’t into it. 1) many other people who have high stats will have NHS too, so i felt that why should i waste 1 spot for something i could fill in with equal or greater effect. that’s the whole point. you want to present yourself to the max.

Now don’t follow what i did because i got admitted, etc. I had many great EC’s so NHS wasn’t really a “must put” or something and i sorta had an idea of what i wanted to put.

It is hard to tell your UC GPA based on the numbers [as well as the info from above poster] and you dont have to “superscore” the ACT. UCSD just does it by testing session rather then superscoring it. And that is about a littel over the average. .

My Chance: No idea.
When i was being chanced i kinda got bummed when i heard someone say “reach” or something other than “IN” so im not going to say what chances you have. what i will say however is you will make a good OOS applicant.

Good Luck, Best of Luck on your Application.
If you need help, have questions, you know who to contact :)

I’m not quite sure how to read you.
I cant judge your GPA as I’m not used to that scale, but I can tell you that I am an in state student with a 31 on his ACT, a 4.2 GPA, had 6 AP courses, 6 Honors courses, 21+hours of drama a week as a stage manager and lighting designer, 3 years varsity swim, participation on a cirque du soleil-style aerial dance team, among many other activities, and I was not initially accepted. It was only after I appealed that I got in.

Thanks for the replies guys, and yes our schools GPA scale is a bit weried… and converting my GPA/grades to UC scale would have helped. UCSD seems like a reach school for me, but seeing how the Cal Budget Crisis is going on, i doubt id get little to no scholarships from the school, especially as OOS.

impressive, but UCSD is getting harder to get into every year
i say slight reach, almost a match
