Awesome chances- HYP are at the mercy of the dice, but it’s the schools, not you.

When I saw your intended major – Prospective Major: Double Major; Nuclear Engineering and Middle Eastern Studies

I thought that you were a ■■■■■ for sure. The last thing on earth that we need is a Nuclear Engineer in the Middle East! Then again, you could be looking to work on our side with the CIA or NSA trying to prevent nuclear technology transfer to the Middle East or their trading partners like North Korea or Pakistan, etc.

With your stats you can go anywhere. Just remember that the schools you want to apply for are reaches for everyone. I’d add some powerful tech schools like Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Harvey Mudd, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, RPI and WPI to your list as well just in case. Eliminate all the Ivies that have mediocre engineering departments. This includes Harvard. Go there for political science or pre-law but avoid it for engineering

I was looking into those kind of fields, and in order to get into those kind of organizations, one has to be from an Ivy League or Ivy-caliber insitution to rise up the ladder. I realized this in Ninth grade when I applied for a State Dept scholarship to learn Persian in Tajikistan, and have continuing with it since. I have even been working with a Professor of International Affairs at Penn State who is ex-youknowwho.
