Essay: On being a very outspoken person, how this is the opposite of what a traditional Chinese family expects of their daughter, and how it has shaped who I am now.

Recommendations: From two teachers at school, and perhaps a very close supervisor at my hospital medical program.

--
I know it will probably be hard to gain admission seeing how only a few (8%) of attending students have a GPA below 3.0. But will my being Asian help me out somewhat in admission?

Stonehill looks very heavily at GPA and rank.

Not certain if there is a norm, but my son was accepted and given what I consider to be generous merit aid, and his GPA and class rank were the most negative aspects of his application. He is now a freshman at Stonehill.

For the benefit of the OP, here is some more context to my comment regarding my son’s acceptance – he had good ACT/SAT scores (32/1300-1990, and his essay was about an incident that I think would have resonated with the admissions folks, given the stated charter of the school. He is also 25% Asian, and indicated as such in his app. He then received invites from the school to diversity day.

In short, I think that Stonehill is interested in diversifying its student body, and your Asian heritage will certainly benefit you. Even thought they are test optional, strong test scores would give them a reason to discount the GPA and rely upon the test scores.

Good luck!
