Hey everybody, chance me at some schools and I will chance you back.
I attend a very competitive large public high school in New York City. I have a unweighted 92ish average taking very hard classes (but not the hardest), with an solid upward trend. (Basically 88,92,95).

I don't have a weighted GPA nor a class rank. My school doesn't have them.

My SATs are 1450/2190. (730,720,740)
SAT II: 700 Math I(should I submit this), 720 US History, 710 lit.
All my aps(4 of them) are 4s or 5s.

Can you guys just assume that my extras and essays are pretty average. ( I know its gonna be sorta hard to judge, but i'll take answers with a grain of salt).

Also, I will not request financial aid.

So can you chance me at these schools, I know a bunch are gonna be reaches:

Michigan
Suny Big.
UNC
Wisconsin
Wake Forrest
James Madison
Hamilton
Emory
UVA
Macalaster
USC
Georgetown (I know)
Haverford

Thanks a lot. Be very brutally honest, I want you to make me cry. and I will chance back.

Im unframiliar with most of these schools however if they are ranked lower or around USC you have legitamite shots at all of them and are bound to get into a couple.

Argg. Unfortunately I don’t know much about a lot of the schools on your list. I’ll tell you what I can though

Your stats look great and assuming you have decent+ ECs I’d say you have a good chance at UVA. Being OOS will make it hard but based on what I’m told and what I’ve seen from past classes they value GPA a lot and it looks like your set with that. Just write a great essay and I’d say High Match.

You’re in at JMU for sure. No questions asked.

U Mich and UNC I would have said match but I’ve been hearing nothing but bad news about OOS applicants…

Georgetown is a reach.

Haverford match-low reach range but maybe I’m making it sound easier than it is to make me feel better about applying there.

Sorry I can’t give much more info… Good luck!!

Michigan - reach (OOS)
Suny Big. - safety
UNC - reach (OOS)
Wisconsin - low match
Wake Forrest - low match
James Madison - low match
Hamilton - match
Emory - low reach
UVA - low reach
Macalaster - match
USC - match
Georgetown (I know) - reach
Haverford - match

Okay, so, assuming everything is average, and then you have slightly above average- to just average scores and GPA…well, I can basically give it you in a few words. Your chances are average. You need to have something that stands out, otherwise you simply won’t get in. Most of the applicant pools are like you- average! But I don’t think that your essays and EC’s will be average, because I don’t think that the applicant pool from CC is ever really average.

I’m getting sick of that word.

Oh, and USC is more of a reach along with Georgetown. The rest seem to be pretty close in matching. Michigan could be many things, I’ve heard some weird stories from there lately.

Michigan: match
Suny Big.: safety
UNC: match
Wisconsin: safety
Wake Forrest: match
James Madison: safety
Hamilton: safety
Emory: match/low-reach
UVA: low-reach
Macalaster: match
USC: match
Georgetown: reach–but it’s never a “safety” or a “match” for anyone (my friend with a 2290 SAT/4.3 or 4.4 GPA/ top 3% ranking/ regional and state awards did not get in)
Haverford: match

I’d say you have a pretty good shot at USC, Wake Forrest, Macalaster, Michigan, and UNC.

I’ve heard that too. It’s like UCLA- you have 35% chance in state but out of state its more like 10. But it could be just hearsay. What a lot of people on this chances forum don’t get is that if you’re ON CC, you’re automatically talking to a pretty small pool of people all bent on getting to the same place…and you’ll be comparing yourself to some of the best applicants as well. If you have done well for yourself, and you feel like you deserve a spot at these schools, it will show on your application, and you’ll likely find yourself getting a fat packet come spring.

you’re definitely into all of them except for Emory, U Mich, UVA, USC, and Georgetown. You have a great shot at these colleges, although just write great essays and have a great interview.

You have a great shot everywhere except UNC and Georgetown (which are tough for everyone). I would even apply to some Ivies and more top tier schools if I was you, your stats are very good. Cornell? Virginia?
