Would you be so kind to chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/601962-asian-actor-ivies-stanf-uc-s-usc.html#post1061319679</a></p>

just fyi, the sat score increase won’t matter much. i’ve seen people go up much more on these forums.

i’m guessing you’re in for about 2 of your reaches (obviously, reaches being reaches i can’t say which, though currently it’s looking like CMU/UCLA have better chances). you’re in at your matches/safeties.

try writing your essays about being an indian studying in japan. i’m an indian studying in singapore and even i can view culture from a fresh perspective. it’s probably more distinct for you. work that into your essay and show how you’ve learnt from that experience (assuming you have)

yuep yep my uc essay was basically exactly what u said srrinath, but i focused on the importance of retaining my cultural ties while remaining in a foreign environmnet and its implications on my future life. my common app essay is about my goal to study medicine and what got me interested in that (specific experience). and then of course there are supplement essays. thx for ur help guys.

keep up the chances pleasE! Please help me with one thing. 2130: how competitive is that? and is it high enough to perhaps shadow my low SAT II;s?

2130 means that your score isn’t a BAD score for those colleges per se, but that it isn’t a standout part of your app. in fact, a score like 2130 will send adcoms looking for something that stands out on your app. and if they can’t find it, i’m sorry my friend.

but like i said, the indian from kobe thing is going to look good and your GPA looks good. never forget that four years of high school grades are far more representative than the events of one random saturday morning. having said that however, your GPA is not without match among the thousands of kids who apply to your upper reaches, and your sat scores is only somewhat average there.

but to be honest, i think you’ll get in to at least some of your ‘reaches’ which in my opinion should be matches in your case.

thanks srrinath! btw what part of India are you from?

bump guys, plz keep up the chancing…other insights will be greatly appreciated!

you’re gonna get into most or all with a GPA like that combined with your great test scored, how couldn’t you?

Your ECs, recs, anything else to your name?
No APs, IBs, uh…you might be in trouble. Your 2130 is lackluster, and to ditto ssrinath, it will leave colleges looking for something unique about you.

Reaches:
Wash U: Don’t know enough about
Berkeley: Major reach, likely no
UCLA: Slight reach
Cornell: Medium reach
Johns Hopkins: Out of the question
Carnegie Mellon: Match

Middle:
UCSD: Match
University of Rochester: Match

Safety:
BU: probably a middle. I say match or very slight reach
University of Washington: IN

-I have a thread in this forum that awaits your response.

mkoan said that it’s all IB classes…
cornell: match/reach
BU:def in
UCLA:match/reach
U Rochester: match
UCSD:match
Carnegie mellon: in
John’s Hopkins: REACH!
Berkeley:Reach

thanks guys. hey im seriously worried about those II’s. Im wondering how much that 710 on bio and math will hurt me??? Some people say these tests are only used for placement but others say they are very importnat. It wud be great if someone could tell me how much these scores matter? And how bad is a 710?

bump bump!

anyone? how important are SAT II’s? are they looked at more closely thna the I’s?
Since I am aiming to become a doctor, my undergrad major will be biology. I have gotten A’s every quarter in my Bio class since 9th grade, but my test score was 710. Is that going to really hurt me?

Cornell–slight reach
BU–easy in
UCLA–match
Rochester–match
UCSD–match
Carnegie Mellon–match
Johns Hopkins–reach
Berkeley–major reach

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/608723-i-d-adore-you-if-you-d-chance-me.html#post1061380053</a></p>

a 710 is a great score.
why would you be worried about it?
