bump10char, anyone??

Bump10char again…

You have great ECs and grades; my question is, why aren’t you applying to Ivy League? ;)

Lol idk i just dont want to be disappointed by the decision, im applying to columbia though and I feel that i have a good mix of schools in that list. Any thoughts on my chances though?

my man! very good chance at JHU and i say that foremost because their med school is amazing i know u want to get in there at northeastern regular decision, great chances. and Ractogons right u can definitely put ivy league in as a reach (Harvard, yale, princeton, stanford)
biochem does look like a really appealing major. i really like it except for the fact that u need 2 years (1 gen chem, 1 orgo chem) before u can take biochem 1

Ivy League (Columbia included) is a low reach, then. Maybe high match if you’re talking about Columbia specifically.

You’ve got more than one safety here: UConn and Northeastern seem to be the other safeties.

But if Johns Hopkins is a match now, so are most of the schools on your list. Public Ivies (not named Rutgers in your situation, but Rutgers has been, historically, the least selective of Public Ivies) are just a little below JHU and Columbia in terms of selectivity, and perhaps even low match at best.

So from what you guys are saying, i should apply to more ivies because i could actually get in and Catria, what do you mean by “Public Ivies”? Any elaboration on that would be great

Since i am instate for RU, i will get in with close to full scholarship without a problem i know that for a fact, im more concerned about JHU, USC, and columbia because those would be the ideal schools to which, if i get in, i would go to without hesitation. So since im applying to alot of them, i do i have a good shot at getting in some of them?

“Public Ivies” are a bunch of the top public schools:

UC Berkeley/Los Angeles
Michigan
Maryland
North Carolina (Chapel Hill)
Rutgers
Washington
Ohio State
Virginia
William and Mary
Delaware
Texas (Austin)
UIUC
GA Tech
Wisconsin
Penn State

Oh I see that makes sense, and you are saying that I can get into most of these schools?

How committed are you to going to Med school?

Med School is about GPA and MCAT scores. A high GPA from any reputable college will give you the opportunity at med school. All of your schools fall into the reputable category.Throw in some research work in a lab and you should be good to go.

Med School costs money - a lot of money. So the more financial resources you have after undergrad the better.

Your out of state publics, with the possible exception of UConn, will generally be pretty lousy with financial aid while charging you a lot more money than Rutgers. So to my way of thinking there’s little added value to Michigan, Texas, North Carolina, Ohio State, UConn, Berkeley, Washington, Illinois, UCLA or Wisconsin. You’re looking at few scholarship $$$ and a lot of undergrad loans so there are ten you can cut from your list. If money is no object pick three (I vote for Michigan, Texas and Wisconsin). Other OOS publics to consider, some of which offer automatic scholarships for your scores - Indiana, Alabama and (I think) Nebraska.

That leaves you with Rutgers, Northeastern, USC, Columbia, JHU, Pittsburgh and UConn (if there’s scholarship money there). I think another Ivy could be worth a shot (Cornell, Penn or Dartmouth). You might also consider Carnegie-Mellon, though I don’t know about their fin aid packages.

Okay thanks! Money is not too much of an issue but ofcourse i would rather not pay full tuition for 8 years…

Bump10char…

Bump 10char …

Do JHU superscore?

I would say that your stats are good enough for any of the schools you listed, you can also apply to other ivies in addition to columbia and see what happens but if you want to go to med school JHU is a great option and i think it offers need-based finacial aid. Good luck. Chance me back if you can

I think JHU superscores, and thanks marcelo, chanced u back =)

I as asking whether JHU superscored in the event you scored better on reading next time and not in math or in writing.

Oh idk about that, im taking the october SAT so as soon as those scores are in im applying everywhere i have almost everything else sorted out
