The Schools:
University of Chicago (heard they dont look at freshman year, i could be wrong)
Univeristy of Virginia
William & Mary
George Washington
Virginia Tech
James Madison University
George Mason University
Virginia Commonwealth University

Where can I get in?
Also looking for any suggestions to add to the list, Thanks All!

If I were you I'd go to Virginia. It's instate and still a really good school.

You're looking a couple of the same places I am. I'm not real savvy into VA schools, but I plan on applying to William & Mary and man I would love to go there, but I don't know how being an illinois kid will hurt me.

But I guess I can only really comment on UChicago. If you haven't visited and just absolutely fallen in love with the city, I would say proceed with caution if you get in. Chicago seems romantic and all, but I couldn't stand to live up there for four years, just me.

Let me know where you get in though if you don't mind.

Your stats are EERILY similar to mine (except, ya know, that I'm a Caucasian female. Other than that though). I had a 2.7 GPA frosh year and brought it up to a 3.2 UW cumulative, 3.5 weighted (you can see my "Citadel - Actual Results" thread in here for my exact stats).

University of Chicago (heard they dont look at freshman year, I could be wrong) -> Not sure about that. Reach.
Univeristy of Virginia -> Safety; you're definitely in
William & Mary -> Match
George Washington -> GWU I presume... High match / low reach
Virginia Tech -> High match / low reach
James Madison University -> Not familiar with the school
George Mason University -> Not familiar with the school
Virginia Commonwealth University -> Match

If I could make a suggestion....
American University would be a match for you and is very similar to GWU. 99% sure they offer an Economics major. :)

Sorry. Should've specified - William and Mary is a HIGH match, but your hook is that you're a male. lol.

thanks, more replies please!

How can UVa be a safety and VCU be a match?

You're in at all but GW (low match/match), UVa (solid target), and UChicago (reach, but doable)

Chance me back?
<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/585120-i-m-applying-yale-tomorrow-so-chance-me.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/585120-i-m-applying-yale-tomorrow-so-chance-me.html</a></p>

yea I think that Chicago is a reach. I'm still sure UVA is hard to get into even in-state so I wouldn't say its as much of a lock as others.
Please chance me.

thanks for the replies, i would like more opinions please

chance please

Uva is definitely not a safety, but you have a shot

I incorporated your scores, GPA, leadership, and extracurriculars into a systematically devised function of calculatory means that I developed to precisely calculate percent chance of admission to various universities in the US and abroad. The results are as follows (these are the percent chances that you will be accepted at the below named institutions of higher educatory education):

University of Chicago: 14.420%
University of Virginia: 81.933%
William & Mary: 61.751%
George Washington: 47.007%
Virginia Tech: 52.667%
James Madison University: 56.100%
George Mason University: 67.845%
Virginia Commonwealth University: 49.977%

Please note that these are only derived from my own personal formula which seems to accurately predict admissions chances pretty well. Hope that helps!

William & Mary: 61.751%
Virginia Commonwealth University: 49.977%
Really? I had no idea VCU was more selective than William and Mary...

Above average SATs, alright GPA, very solid course load, black...
UVA and W&M are still reaches, you could look at UMich as the disregard freshman year gpa. I would say you have a better chance at W&M as they're less numbers based, and UVA likes to see SATIIs
GW and Chicago: Reaches I think but i don't know much about them
JMU is a low match, they like to see tough classes
VT is a match, reach if engineering
VCU and GMU you should be in at

My system really isn't based on selectivity -- it's based on how well an individual applicant fits into that particular school's statistics/what they look for in applicants.

You get a boost from URM, first-generation, and rising GPA trend. Your ECs are not bad.

thanks for the responses, more chances....i need them lol

i need more chances...

anyone........

I definitely don't think UVA is a safety for you...more of a low reach. Other than that, I think you've got a good chance most other places. Good luck.

bump!!!!!!!
