So much happened aftr my last post.. INTERESTING..!

Newa.. I think ppl should just stop prying aspringcardinal.. Can't we just accept that he IS smart (2400 in SAT at first go is more than a thing.. and if you don't seem to agree try it yourself).. And about bragging.. Mr. Bumble bee.. a.ka. ajayc.. check your own various CHANCE threads.. huh!!

@asprinscardinal: nobody can REALLY tell you your chances(yeah.. I know I am contradicting myself..).. Just be proud with whatever you have done last 2 years.. spat yourself.. you'll get all your answers in 3 months.. Just remember that you are better than most Indians.. and therefore stand better chance.. And please no need to defend yourself.. you know what is the truth.. do you really care if some anonymous person is raising fingers(!!!) on your achievements.. If you have presented yoursel such as not to sound boasting in your app.. + have actually proved yourself as an avid learner rather than an achiever.. I am sure you'll get into one of your dream colleges..!! And by chance if you don't.. I am sure you'll get into any decent college in India.. All the very best!

@yuna: "well of all the people here- you certainly don't deserve to get into any college, leave alone a superb one"------------ DON"T DESERVE TO GET INTO ANY COLLEGE????..... Can you further explain that..????

And about Caltech.. 3 students from India who went last year(with Aid) had no science/math realted activities.. just some mere awards.. caltech doesn't really care if you have no S/M activities.. Scores are of utmost importance.. And with aspringcardinal.. They are really great.. except math.. but then I am sure he doesn't want to major in math.. so that wont be a prob..

@aspringcardinal: you mind telling me which school are you from..??

I'm not sure you guys understand just how little money is out there. If you can pay half or more you bein to stand a chance id you are phenomenal and not number 1 in India in something.

They have many, many poor applicants with perfect stats. To give an International a full ride costs them very much more because of no Federal and State aid.

Be realitic like only the girl from Holyoke seems to be. You need to goto that level of school and lower with your 2400!

Great stats! congrats on the 2400, but the 690 in Math 2 will murder you chances at MIT/Caltech. But who knows, you mght have a shot. BTW, 75% of the 2400 at HYP get rejected. Not sure about MIT, Caltech, Stanford, but they should be similar.

However, excellent chances, and I doubt you'd get rejected EVERYWHERE, or get accepted everywhere.

2400 doesn't show anyone's intelligence. You can't gauge anyone's intelligence by making him do a paper on Saturday morning for 3 hrs. I can show you lots of examples of students who have a nuclear fission going on in his basement but didnt do well on SAT. Maybe that is a toy? Check it out yourself Greg's Lab: Welcome to Greg's Lab!

Bragging? lol Did I ever blab about how I deserve to get into a top college or did I Title my thread 'Chance a 'SMART' Indian'?

I don't even know this chap. And I don't give a damn what crap he puts on his applications. He can get into loads of nice colleges with that 2400, but he is ruining his chances by lying. Its his choice. The point of chances thread is to discuss the weakness as well as the strengths of the applicant.I have acknowledged his SAT scores but I couldn't stop myself by commenting on the way he was lying about this activities. He asked for his chances. I gave him my views. If he is right why the hell does he have to start defending himself?

By saying that he didnt mean to offend anyone with his 'brag' lines doesn't cover anything.

Good Luck to you for Smith. :)

PS: Just take a few seconds to read my evaluation about his stats. You will see what I am talking about.

To start off with.. I presonally know those three students.. actually not three.. but two.. Sonal Gupta from DPS VK,Delhi and Janesha Dua from my batch, DPS RKP,Delhi.. (both of them had no S/M activities but were scholars and toppers in Science/Math)..the third one is some anonymous whom I got to know thru them only..

Neway a 2400 doesn't mean you are intelligent.. I said he was smart(where the hell I said that he was intelligent..??).. I very well know how much SAT tests your intelligence.. But I still stand by what I said.. He got 2400, that means he is smart (not that I am his lawyer..)..!

A 2400 will not get you into every school you apply to and there is also a surplus of smart Asians in the US- including those of Indian origin. Do reach for the top, but have some next tier safeties. Good luck.

Even I think international Ec's aren't checked.. Imagine a princeton student told me to fake some Ec's if they look good on profile(Ridiculous)..
Err.. well.. If only I needed some..

what i meant by saying that he of all doesn't deserve to get into any college was that - someone who lies on his application to get into the college certainly doesn't deserve to get in comparison to so many deserving students who are not scamming or lying.
Anyway - Americans in general are very particular about truthfulness and honesty and this guy should remember that its not India where lying is considered normal.
If he's caught -he's gone.
