GPA: W-4.3296 UW-3.8774

Will take- AP Calc BC, AP Physics C, AP Gov and Econ, AP English(literature), AP stat/prob.

Teacher's rec: will be good i suppose. ill get one from calc, physics and spanish teacher.

Essay: Ill try my best. It's not gonna be terrible nor miraculous.

EC:
University Interscholastic Leagues- it's like an academic competition. I got 10th in state for number sense, which is a 80-questions-10-minute mental math test. I acted as a captain/leader for my team and organized summer meets so that we can improve. Probably my most dedicated EC. (10th, 11th, 12th)

Peer tutoring- I will be the vice president of the peer tutoring org of the school and i volunteered to teach around 5 hours each month. (11th, 12th)

DECA- I will be the Executive Assistance of our chapter. My partner and I went to State but didn't win at state. (11th, 12th)

President's Council- I will be the Assistance Vice Chair of Student Relations whose job is to improve participation of other students in ECs. (12th)

I have bunch of school awards, which are kinda useless i guess.
Most awards I won are from University Interscholastic Leagues. I have bunch of local, district, and regional awards.

Work:
Bagger at a grocery store for 6 months.

Volunteer:
Local Library Aide - 12 hrs?
Peer tutoring - 30 hrs?
Nursing home - 10 hrs?

Hobbies:
Skateboarding- I skated for like 3 years then quit cuz i didn't improve much. My biggest achievement would be a flatground tre flip and ollieing a 7 stairs. (8~10th)
Workout- I recently began working out. (11th~)

Schedule:
9th- my worst year. Took 3 honor classes and did like no EC.
10th- 5 honor classes and a little more EC.
11th- 5 AP and 1 honor class.
12th- will take 5 AP and 1 honor class.
I would say I am taking the most rigorous schedule my school is offering.

Random:
I am attending the Stanford EPGY summer program. (quantum mechanics)

Plz chance me for Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Caltech, Brown, Hopkins, Cornell, Columbia, and Rice.
Thx alot.

Ah, what’d you compete in for DECA!? I was in Internet marketing and did an Ad Campaign at States. Went to nationals for an LDA spot.

as for chancing you, I’m not the best at it. But I’d say you’re as qualified as it’s going to get, but then again there are a lot of these stats…everywhere. Regardless, good luck!

i competed in the Entrepreneurship Written Event.

Bump.

Another BUMP…
i really wanna know, anyone?

Good job getting those SAT scores up, that’ll help you a TON  Your GPA is a bit on the low side for Ivies, but your ECs seem solid…idk though, not a lot of national/intnl awards so nothing jumping out from the pool. HYPSM are reaches and exacerbated by the fact that you’re Asian (I know, I empathize…) so odds there are slim. Hopkins/Cornell/Columbia/Rice you seem to be well qualified for, so my guess is you’ll probably get in.
chance me back if you have time? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736548-chance-me-top-schools-ivies.html</a></p>

hey whats your secret to improving your SAT CR so much? xD
you have a good chance for brown, cornell, etc. But harvard and princeton might be a little hard :P

lol…
i don really have a secret.
i just did some vocab and did alot of practice tests.

sounds like the stereotypical asian to me… why don’t you go outside a while and do something not school related? Ivies like that too ;)

yeah i agree rulethelines how are you nonstereotypical? you seem to be the kind of kid to spend countless hours doing a prep course (put that on your resume). you really should be in the top 10of your class for a chance at the top schools HYP (top 1%). id definitely try to raise your rank, and to be honest i dont think universities care whether you can ollie 7 stairs or bench 200 pounds.
harvard: 2%
mit: 3%
rice: im starving

lol…
i don spend hours studying and stuff.
that’s just a complete waste of time.
i just got my score naturally with minimum prep…
and im sure colleges do care about hobbies and stuff and how u r committed to ur hobbies.

hahah. well i can quite comfortably say your not going to mit.
also i can tell by your application and overall demeanor that you are one that did excessive prep to raise your SAT score, considering the fact you came from a foreign country and english isn’t your first language, there is no way you get a 740 english and 800 writing naturally. nice try tho.

wow haha I like how this turned into a racial hate-bash. (not a real word I know)

Anyway, I have to agree you’re a pretty typical asian, BUT your resume is outstanding nonetheless.

Harvard- HIGH reach
Stanford- reach
MIT- HIGH reach
Caltech- reach
Brown- HIGH match
Hopkins- Match
Cornell- HIGH match
Columbia- reach
Rice- who cares?

How are you nonstereotypical again?

@ thebestphysicist
u r assuming too much, maybe u r just jealous of my scores?
how do u know i prepped like a madman?
maybe im naturally smart?

and that’s why i put SOMEWHAT nonstereotypical.
there aren’t alot of asians who skate or work out.
i guess skating and working out was what made me believe i was somewhat nonstereotypical.

anyone can work out… ANYONE. You quit skating if I read your post correctly which is never a good thing. Quitting is bad. Also, I would say I am as qualified as you are, and I am NOT expecting anything special from ivies. In fact, I’m only applying to two for the heck of it. Now, I know you are trying to downplay your asian attributes, but let’s be honest here: nobody does what you do with minimal effort because they are “naturally smart”. I know this because I am the same way, but I have to balance my time with a varsity sport that expands into a state wide commitment, have a girlfriend, hang out with friends, and other fun things. It takes a great effort and a somewhat large amount of mental toughness to survive a school year. So, in short, quit worrying so much about “will i get in?” (which you have posted countless times on many forums) and start living your life as a high school senior because it only happens once.

lol people on here are so mean
i guess if your stats aren’t mind blowing, don’t put them up here xD

I wouldn’t go as far as to say you’re nonstereotypical since colleges really can’t measure how much you study for standardized tests or how much effort you put into school, you know? And try not to mention things that you have quit; colleges like dedication over “OMG LOOK AT ME IN 500 CLUBS.”

I believe you with the whole SAT score thing though. I got 61 on PSAT and 740 on SAT (exactly like you, haha). I just studied a few more vocab words and did a few reading sections the week of, but I think my mentality made the difference because I actually felt a little pressure.

Academics are below average for a “stereotypical Asian,” I’d say. ECs/competitions are pretty good. Good improvement on SAT.

High reaches: Harvard, Stanford, MIT (nothing exceptional about you that I can tell)
Reaches: Caltech, Columbia
High matches: Brown, Cornell, Hopkins (but you don’t really show any passion for anything - like medicine for JHU)
Matches: Rice

nothing is mind blowing when there are hundreds of thousands of kids just like us that have just as good stats. It isn’t being mean, it is just the truth. No point in worrying about something that is at this point out of our hands other than a decent essay and recomendations.

lol well you can usually tell if there’s a THE CHOSEN ONE posting their stats on CC. but you’re right… Ivies’ choices are kinda random for those not overly qualified for the Ivies.

zasdf you are hilarious, the mere fact that you state that i should be jealous of your SAT scores shows your arrogance and burning passion to excel on the SAT, which points towards prep course/school. and by the way doing well on the SAT does not make you an intelligent person by any stretch of the word. people who believe this are idiotic to say the least. i got a 2370 without taking a prep course, and i can frankly say that it means nothing. also you cannot include working out on your app because there is no reference. if you could include it, extracurriculars would be even more useless than they already are. hopeful ivy league prospects such as yourself just do them to advance there own personal objectives because people are naturally selfish.
