If there are floods of strong applicants who have listed one major as their projected choice, then the college will make admissions tougher in that major, both for diversity and to make sure that department doesn't get completely flooded.

right, but theres got to be a majority of undecided..so with that logic wouldnt undecided be a poor choice?

junefever, do you considering having psychotic (literally diagnosed with psychosis) mother with paranoia, who gets violent, and a father who is never home, and two siblings off in college. and a mom who calls the police on you while your sleeping. thats just hitting the edge. do you consider that a good reason for your grades to droop slightly? im being half sarcastic half serious.

what ill probably do is write in my essay an occassion where things later in my life, as a result of my mom, have made me a stronger person.

But i wont reference her in it, i will also send an additional essay explaining the circumstances at home.

Goddddd i want to get into Dartmouth

Anyone have any other suggestions for schools i should look at?

Are you worried that the suspension will negatively impact your admit possibilities? Or not (since the rule you broke is kind of silly/laughable)?

Im not too worried. Hopefully colleges will understand.

"I was suspended for 3 days for being behind a closed door with a girl. (Private school rule)"
Huh....I would chance you, but...i won't say anything new you havent heard from others in this post...

can you just chance me anyways? :P
I like the whole like, reach, safety, match, semi-reach, low match, high match, thing. it makes me more sure of my chances.
This is how i figure it
Colgate U - Match
Dartmouth C(ED) - Semi/Mid Reach
Franklin/Marshall C - Safety/ Likely
Haverford C - High Match/Low Reach
Swarthmore C - Low Reach
U Pennsylvania(ED?) - Reach
Washington & Lee U - Match

Any other opinions?

If Penn is a reach, shouldn't Dartmouth be too? Isn't it the more competitive of the two?

well i was hoping ED would give me a slight edge. plus after researching both alot, and looking at results from actual seniors who apply, upenn looks harder.

Oh. Interesting. Penn is where my friend Kelley wants to go, too. I haven't really looked at it very seriously.

Junefever, you got into MIT so I'm not so sure that's a great example. However your chances aren't great but they are ok.

i think ill bump this puppy.

i dont understand what thats supposed to mean.

bump.10char.

bumpbumpbump

five posts in a row..sry...i just want to get chanced...Dartmouth is my biggest concern.

everybody's got problems
four of my best friends died in a car accident in the winter
i still kept my grades up, so why can't u
colleges will feel the same way

do you have a psychotic mom, who hits you, calls the police on you while youre sleeping, and a dad who is never home?

Have you ever been hospitalized for near starvation?

Never speak again.

bump................

oh, i'm so sorry for what happened to you...
i would totally chance you, only i have no idea how to do it..i'ld probably give you very bad advice..
i hope you can get in though!!:)

i say apply to cornell and have ur brother/sister write recs for you
