You look like a strong candidate to me, particularly with the hardships you have survived. You showed strength and stamina, in the face of adversity. I'm not sure what a 91.1 GPA is>>is that a B+ average??? Also, it's probably a personal trait of mine, but I get irritated when candidates say "school.... doesn't rank". Rank is way too important to blow off. Where do you think you rank? If my memory serves me well (and it may not be doing so) I think I remember the counselor form for UVA asking for class rank, and if that is not known, then to estimate. Now that was last year. Most universities will ask GC's that if they don't rank, then estimate.

my school does gpa out of 100, 90+ is an A. My school doesnt rank and it is tough to estimate where i would rank because it does not weight for honors courses. I have been in the hardest classes possible (including two non native speaking foreign language AP's) and have accumulated a 91 average, but someone who has taken the easiest courses possible could get a 94 average and rank higher than me. Many times the school valedictorian has not been in any tough courses

I disagree ^^^. ~750+ in all SAT scores, number of unique EC's, A average in a top high school in NY...idk 80% in. 85% with great rec's and essay.
