Does this app. look like a stereotypically asian? >.<

Your grades and test scores are slightly low for the schools you’re looking at (actually, you don’t have much scores yet for us to judge), but most importantly, you don’t seem to have a focus in your extracurriculars. It’s as though you did what you did for college admissions, not because you have an interest in those activities.

No. (What is the “stereotypical asian” anyway?)

Edit: Oh, I just realized that you’re a sophomore/ rising junior. In that case, you’re doing fine. I don’t know (I’m only a senior/soon-to-be college freshman so I’m probably not knowledgeable enough to give advice)… I really think you should try to develop some kind of focus in your extracurricular by devoting your time to something you love rather than completing a lot of disconnected activities. Do these summer camps teach you anything? Do you actually learn from the experience, or do you think they look good for application? I don’t know, just my thoughts.

I’m mainly focusing on FBLA because I really like business/finance.
Eco club is just there for a kicker and my love for the environment :stuck_out_tongue:
And I play piano because i’m Asian

Being a stereotype Asian = varsity track/tennis/swimming. Loves math, plays piano/violin, ect.
I play basketball and golf, so hopefully that will look better.

As for the summer programs, I wanted to attend them to see how college life is like/how their campus is like/ meet new ppl / and of course to learn.

And for scores, what would you recommend for a better chance at the non-ivies ?

Well, the most obvious ones are to work on improving your GPA and making sure you have great SAT scores.

Yeah i’m going to study A LOT for these finals… it’s all or nothing on these finals.

What would you say is a decent SAT score to even be considered? 2200+ ?
And for GPA, do you have to have 4.3+ ? 4.4+?

Aim for the 75 percentile of the schools you’re looking at, I guess. It’s okay if your SAT scores are less than that, but the 75% should be a good goal.

No, you just have to be among the top of your class. Schools have different grading standards, sometimes rendering the arbiturary GPA scales meaningless.

That’s very true…

Thanks for your help! I’ll do some research.
