Ok, this where I'm hoping to make up for my academic shortcomings. I've swimming since i was 10 and i've been pretty good at it. Junior year i was state champion in 50 free, 100 butterflyand part of the winning 200 free and 200 medley relays. This year im hoping to do the same but also break the state records in my events. Ive also qualified for YMCA nationals. Since RI is small, idk how good being state champ is....buttt i've compared my times with those from the schools, and i already have best or close to best times. With all that said, most of the schools are division 3...... which really sucks. Since i wont be getting scholarships, im hoping at least it will help my chances of getting in....HOPEFULLY.

Ive talked with all the coaches all they seem to be interested in me. Several of the schools have relays that need a better butterfly leg(ME!) and i hope this helps my case.

Last summer i worked as a lifeguard/swim teacher from a private beach club. I've also been a volunteer assistance swim coach at the local Y for most of junior year.

Sooo are my chances good on making it in to these schools? If they are, then great, if not, oh well, theres always the community college........

Thanks

Well think of it this way. Even though DIII schools won't give you a scholarship, they will really want you on their team, therefore making it easier for you to get in. I'm sure DI schools will want you, but DI schools are a lot harder to get in for athletics, because they recruit better athletes.

So I think CMU and NYU are DIII. I would say you have a great shot at those two.
