Others: UT, Texas Tech(bleh)

I know I have a very low, low chance as of now for my dream schools, but I would greatly appreciate it if you guys could give me advice on what I should do this last summer so I can greatly improve my chances.

Thanks!

you are aiming low…with a good GPA like yours you should get into UT…i dunno about Stanford, Berkeley, but UT is a definite possibility…

yeah…UT is my back-up

what would you suggest that I do for Stanford and Berkley?

difficult to say really…because im gonna be honest…youre AP’s are not the best…also you really have to take SAT II’s at least 2 of them…get your SAT to 2150+ do well on your next AP’s and…your’e closer then you are…otherwise…your CV looks great…you have alot in the EC’s dept. that should help you…

remember Stanford and Berkeley are reaches for almost everyone…not trying to be pessimistic…

please chance me back…i dunno how to post links…but im on the first page.

if u can get ur sat to a 2200, you are almost a yes for stanford

Not really. I know people with 2340s that were rejected to Stanford. So much factors into admission that no trait alone ensures entry. (I was personally rejected with a 2190)

However, your record is very good. Your extracurrics and volunteer work is going to carry you a long way. Also, you don’t submit AP scores until after you are admitted to the school.

Thanks!

Anyone else…?

That’s a good joke.

I wouldn’t discount your chances at your reach schools as in, I would still apply. But realistically, I don’t see Stanford accepting you even with amazing essays and recs. Berkeley might be reasonable depending on your SAT scores, but that 2 in AP comp sci looks pretty bad. Good luck though.

^Yeah, no way. 2200 guarantees nothing, even a 2400 wont guarantee an acceptance to Stanford.

Anyway, you should definitely try for Berkeley! :] I know they look heavily at academics, but still, your GPA and ranking looks good. Around 50 to 60 people of the graduating class at my school go to Berkeley each year. Its not easy to get in, but it is not as difficult as Stanford, for sure.

so they do look at your AP scores during the admissions process?

AP scores are self-reported. You can omit them if you want to. They get the official AP score report after you’ve been accepted, I believe. So yeah, admit them. Up your SAT to 2200+, I think. Stanford will still be a huuge reach just because it’s not all about your numbers/stats there, but Berkeley will be a low-to-mid reach. Don’t know much about Texas schools, sorry.
