Chance a transfer for UT, Vanderbilt, American

I was wondering if someone could give me an idea of my chances of transferring to

University of Texas at Austin (in state student)
Vanderbilt University
American University

I want to transfer from the University of Miami because while I originally came to the school to be an Economics major, Political Science and African American Studies classes have interested me the most, I’m currently double majoring in them and considering adding a pre law track and these universities have superb programs in those fields. Im applying to more schools but I know I won’t have an issue getting into those.

Jobs: University of Miami Student Center Complex Student Assistant (August 2014-Present), Intern at The Metropolitan Center, an economic and political think that that creates policy solutions specifically for South Florida Issues (August 2015-December 2015), became a paid research assistant for the Political Science department at the University of Miami for the Spring 2016 semester, and I will soon begin an internship with the Florida Democratic Party at their Miami office.
Recommendations: I have a great recommendation from a professor who has been featured in several prominent political science journals and received his graduate degree from Columbia University and I got an A in his class last semester

I know my GPA could be better, but its low mostly because of math classes I took because of my economics major that I didn’t do so well in, math has never been my strongest subject and those classes helped me realize economics wasn’t the major I should pursue (should I mention this in one of my essays?) also as I said before I have all A’s in my Political Science and African American Studies classes. I’m hoping my wealth of work experience and good recommendations will balance out my grades.

bump, i really need some opinions

American university and university of Texas are possibilities, that being said i think you will be fine. Vanderbilt on the other hand because of your lower GPA would highly be a no. I think Vanderbilt has became a lot more completive and other students have better college track records than you, they will most certainly admit them first.
Best of luck,

I see so many connections between your profile and my own. I, too, am interested in Africana/African American studies, and I am also applying to Vanderbilt. I don’t think that I’m in the position to judge you fairly, but as the post above says American and Texas are probably possibilities. Don’t rule Vanderbilt out, though; I’m sure that with strong essays, great recommendations and an otherwise solid transcript (your Poli Sci and AA Studies grades might save you) that Vanderbilt will consider you. Hang on in there!
Gods Speed!!!
