CHANCE a TRANSFER---TRANSFER

Transfer Question

I am currently a freshman on a full academic scholarship to the top private college in my state and one of the top three in the southeast. Currently I have all As.

Last year I graduated as the valedictorian of a competetive private school (410+) and scored above 2220 on my SAT (top 99 %). I also did well on my AP tests and have like a ton of service and activities. I have been doing research at a neurodegenerative research facility for a year now. I'll probably get published this year.

Basically I hate my school with a passion and my parents forced me to go there to save money, however I have enough for three years and recently received a ton of scholarships (over ten thousand worth).

I want to transfer to DUKE. Do I stand a chance this year at getting in. Got into Norhwestern, Rice, Ivies, and JHopkins last year. Premed

Gosh, probably? I know that transferring works differently and is often harder than regular admissions but that is about it. I’d say if you maintain all A’s then you shouldn’t have too much trouble assuming that some spots open up in the class. If you really do want to transfer to Duke then go ahead and apply.

Duke slightly overenrolled this year’s freshman class so transfer admissions could be a little tighter than usual. You sound like a top applicant though. Good luck.

Definitely. If you’re coming from one of the top three private colleges in the Southeast. I’m guessing it’s Vandy or Emory if you aren’t already at Duke, then you should have a fairly good chance. Especially if you will be published this year and have all As. I would say you have an extremely good chance.
