Hey, I transferred in last year and my stats weren’t off the charts and my gpa wasn’t a 4.0 and my midterm report wasn’t a 4.0 either and I know a big reason why I was accepted was because of my essay and the reasons I had for transferring, which is probably the most important part of the application after your college gpa. Also, I didn’t do the autobiography essay so don’t believe people when they say you’ll get rejected if you didn’t, but it does help your cause. As long as you can write a great essay you have as good a shot as I had and it worked out for me.

I agree with TJones, I think the application essay plays a huge role in admissions to Penn. When I compared my transfer essays to my high school ones, there was a dramatic difference. I was rejected by Wharton RD as a high school senior, but accepted as a transfer after one year at Northeastern. I didn’t do anything spectacular that would give me a clear advantage against other applicants (internships, awards, etc).

ok thanks guys. im already on like the 150th draft of my essays but i’ll keep working on them for as long as i can to get them perfect.
thanks for the insight on the pg. 217 essay, i wasn’t planning on doing it so that made me more confident in that decision.
