chance a URRRRRRRRM (junior year transfer) ;)

haha soo...i already posted a thread...but got 0 replies...so i thought i'd ask people to chance me rather than reccomend schools for me based on my stats...

stats

freshman year 1st semester: 3.14 uw average (i got 3 B-s and 1 C+, and the rest were A-/A) My C+ are equivilent to most schools B's (83) and my B-'s are equivilent to most schools B+/B's (85&86)
freshman year 2nd semester: 3.8ish uw average (A-'s/A's) my schools doesn't offer A+'s btw.

im sure i'll get straight A's sophomore year

ec's: internship with a anti-discrimination non profit. im a part of many youth organizations and started a youth organization for kids of my ethnic group so that we can end racism in our schools and community. i went to a leadership camp this summer. i did speech and debate and was state champ in an event and i went to nationals. i did mock trial as well, and was class president. im also a school board representative for all public schools. and i run indoor and outdoor track (im not the best, but im dedicated). i was one of 4 freshman to recieve the leadership award in my school, and the only person in my entire school to get the speech and debate award im a very good leader and that's my focus and passion

i plan on doing student council, civil rights, GSA, french club, spanish club and academic decathalon along with everything else next year.

and im a URM...if that matters.

SCHOOLS:
Phillips Exter
Phillips Academy Andover
SPS
Taft
Lawrenceville
Peddie
Deerfield
Milton
Hotchkiss
Choate
Loomis Chaffee
Miss Porter's

Your kind of in the same position as I am, except I am applying for freshman year. I did terribly in 7th grade, but am sure that I am going to get straight As this year. You can’t go back and re-do your mistakes, but you can work as hard as you possibly can, and work with that. Also, do your research for your interviews, and do really well on them, and perform well on your SSAT or SAT, which ever you are taking. Good Luck!

Wow…your stats look incredibly similar to mine (Junior year applicant, URM, bad freshman year grades, similar ecs, etc). I think the only schools on the list you gave that you have a definite shot in would be Loomis Chaffee and Miss Porter’s…but, with the rest of the schools, I think you’re chances in getting accepted are really low. Accordingly, I think you should drastically change your list. Instead of having so many HADES + GLADCHEMMS schools, you should take a few out and add a few safety schools instead. Your list should look more like this:

Phillips Exter
Phillips Academy Andover
SPS
Taft
Choate
Loomis Chaffee
Miss Porter’s
NMH
Kent
Concord
Blair
St. Mark’s
St. Georges

Something in those lines ^. You have too many tier 1 schools and not enough matches and safeties.

thanks sooooo much for your help  i’ll definitely change my schools  !!!

You’re welcome :)
