Chance a very nervous junior for USC

<p>I am currently a male junior at a public high school in colorado. My school is very well known and is in the top 5 high schools in my state.</p>

<p>On average USC (southern california) takes about 10 students from my high school each year .... about 30 apply </p>

<p>GPA~ Weighed: 4.0
Unweighed: 3.7</p>

<p>Test Score: ACT 30
SAT 1950 (620 cr, 650 w, 680 m)</p>

<p>AP Classes
Junior: AP Language, AP United States Government, AP Human Geography
Senior: AP Literature, AP Art History, AP Comparative, AP Calc AB, AP Environmental Science</p>

<p>ECs
~Lettered in Speech and Debate 3 years (will a 4th time)
~I am going to be a Captain for Debate next year
~I have received an academic letter 2 years in a row
~I have ran Cross Country for every year in high school and have lettered in it.
~I am a member of NHS for my 2nd year
~I am involved in Creek Connects (helping 8th grades transition from middle school to high school) where i am a group leader
~I am a student shadow
~I am in Amnesty International for my 1st year
~I am going to be a peer ambassador next year
~I volunteer at my church and at Children's Hospital this year (4 hours a week)
~I volunteer for the special olympics (helping mentally disabled childern swim)-2 hours a week </p>

<p>This summer I am taking a seminar at USC where i go take a class at USC and live in the dorms (Bodyworks seminar)</p>

<p>I have meet the recruiter from USC for my school and have been keeping in contact with him since</p>

<p>I know i will have very good letters of rec and a very good essay</p>

<p>USC has become a very competitive school......... and i want to go there SO bad..... What are my chances?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?</p>

<p>EC’s are good - but your GPA is on the low side and so are you test scores… :frowning: </p>

<p>It’ll be a reach IMO.</p>

<p>I dunno, maybe a class rank woulda helped.</p>

<p>It would be ideal to retake your SAT (2150 ?) It’s not necessary but it would really help your chances. And if you are willing, also consider retaking your ACT (32).</p>

<p>Actually, you are almost exactly at the borderline–and your ECs (especially in sports and charity efforts) work in your favor.</p>

<p>I expect you will be admitted–but do agree that retaking your SATs, if you feel that you can improve them by 50 points for each section, would go a long way towards firming up your chances.</p>

Yea, i think that i will be pretty boarder line… so that is why i am working hard on my ECs and hopefully doing USCs summer seminar will help!</p>

<p>But I would still love to hear your guys opinions<br>
(O and i am in the top 12% of my class if that helps)</p>
