Chance a very stressed senior? (+ SAT/ACT question)

Hi!

I'm heather. USC is my top school. I love their business programs and what it would offer me. I'm slightly worried for admission. Here are my stats:

13 AP/Honors classes total
Gpa: 95.48/100
(Not sure how that works on 4.0)
Rank: 37/445

Extracurriculars: FBLA Vice President, NHS treasurer, Youth Group Secretary, Girl Scouts secretary, Soccer 13 years, Club soccer team captain 2 years, started a summer camp for kids whose parents don't really have time for them, a few other clubs that I'm a member of, worked 35hrs/wk 3 years to pay bills

Volunteer: 100+ hours coaching soccer, 100 hours American Heart Association, 150 hours American Trauma Society, organized Community Halloween Night for safe trick or treating raising $8000+

I'm a white female from a low income family <40,000.

Essay is pretty good, recommendations are pretty good.

SAT:
1760
M:570
W: 600
CR:590

I could sign up late for the ACT (I hate the SAT.) if my SAT will be a turning point.

Any advice on what to do? I love this school, I'll try the ACT if that's gonna help.

You need to score at least a 31 on the ACT to be competitive for USC.

Yea just try your best on the ACT. It looks like your GPA & ECs are pretty good so.

Raise your test scores and you will be fine

I agree. Try the ACT (study study study!) and hope for the best. Everything else looks wonderful! Good luck!

Seems like I’ll be signing up late for the ACT.

If I don’t do well, should I still have a chance?

Try a 32+ on ACT. That will significantly boost your chances.

Suppose you write stellar essays with that credential, you are in.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1575443-chance-me-my-ed-ea-hyp-mit-please-will-chance-back.html

It’s within reach. But that still means perhaps 1:3 odds.
So what are your matches and safeties? What’s in-state for you?
Are you applying to 100% need schools and have you run Net Price Calculators on all the websites?

My other schools are UMD, George Mason, and Penn State (in state). Considering trying UC Irvine or San Diego, not sure.

I do have a first-generation status and know my essay has a strong hook, so I hope that plays out well.

We did the net price thing and I seem to be fine, but I have a few safeties as well.

I really hope you improve your scores then! You’ll be a really competitive applicant.

You’re in at Penn State since it’s numerical (I used SAT 1800 since you can’t quite miss that number on your retake  )

I don’t know whether I’d pay $50,000 to attend UC Irvine but… to each his own :p

Schools such as Hamilton appreciate high-caliber first gen applicants. Just sayin’. :)

Yeah. I’m not seeing a point in applying to a public school in Cali, that’s a little too expensive :P

I’ll look into Hamilton!

I’ll hopefully do well on the ACT, you never know
