Ethnicity: Chinese Male (damn it)
I go to a relatively competitive high school (ranked in Top 10 Newsweek for two years)</p>
<p>GPA: My school doesn't calculate this until Senior year, but unweighted should be between 3.7-4.0 depending on how we do GPA by my senior year.</p>
<p>Rank: School doesn't rank, hopefully top 10%.</p>
<p>SAT: I took a recent diagnostic and got 1960 (640 M, 620 CR, 700 W) But I will study intensely over this summer and hope to get 2300+
Courseload: 3 AP's by the end of high school, but 6-7 IB.</p>

<p>Love the title. My friend I would bet on you getting into at least one HYP. Chapel Hill is tough cause your out of state but maybe. But your a great student at one of the best high schools in the US so your chances are better than you think.</p>

<p>Def. get a high SAT. Without at least 2000 most of those will be quite difficult. 2300 would be very very helpful.</p>

<p>I don't think your chances are that good for HYP or wharton. Cornell... you have a shot at. You have a lot of sports, which is great, but are you good enough to get recruited? if not, then.. overall, your activites are very typical. Test scores... do well on those. Academics might actually keep you out of those top schools.. i know everybody says that it's okay as long as you're in the top ten percent, but the college admissions thing is getting much more competitive these days and usually top 5% is much safer than only at the top 10%... plus, being asian never helps. anyway, you have good chances at the other schools on your list, though.</p>

I have already done soccer for my first 2 years of high school, but am awful at that. on the other hand, i'm somewhat of a decent runner.
How would it look if i stopped soccer halfway through high school to do XC?</p>
<p>if you can back it up in your essays (i.e. you say that you loved running a lot more, and perhaps got some running awards etc) ... then that's fine.</p>

<p>They wont care. You will not be rejected from a school just because you switched soccer with track. That wouldnt make sense.</p>
<p>Sry man your SAT's are way too low for HPY. Like a third of all accepted ppl have 2300 or above, another third have between 2200 and 2300, and the remaining third are between 2000 and 2200. but those ppl are ones who are really good at something like a sport. Unless your a state champ in something, I think HYP is a far far reach, the others are a bit less of a reach. Rochester and ND I think a more matching</p>

<p>cgar541 that is so far from true. I personnally know a gal who got into Princeton with a 1900. Its not like it cant happen. SATs arent the be all and end all.</p>

<p>That girl musta been good at something else, or she did something unique. Otherwise there's no way she coulda gotten in. I agree, you don't need a perfect SAT or anything close to that...but then you have to have something outstanding to substitute. I know a few kids who got into harvard and princeton with about 2000 SAT...but they also happened to be state champs</p>
