I would like to know the role that a major plays in the application process. For example, what is the hardest major to get to in UCLA or UCB... Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems that all the chance threads do not take the applicant's major into consideration. I was told in a match that I was a match for UCLA, but I didn't state my major. How do the chance threads work if most of the people do not state what they major in??

One of UCB’s more competitive majors would be engineering, I believe.

Chance threads give you a general idea of how you would fit in with the rest of the applicant pool/admitted student body.
