Chance an AA Female for Georgetown, American, Howard, Hamptons, UChicago, and others

Your EC’s are really impressive! And you’re Haitian, nice, lol.

Chances out of 10:
-American University: 9-10 (I think? not really familiar)
-Howard University: 9-10 (again, not really familiar)
-Hamptons University: same as above
-Georgetown: 7 (mock trial pres. should help, but you haven’t really demonstrated passion for politics outside of that; also you said you screwed up your app)
-University of Chicago: 7-8
-Harvard: 6
-Princeton: 6
-Yale: 6-7
-Columbia: 7
-St. John’s University (safety): 10
-Macaulay Honors: don’t know, probably 9-10

You’re a really good candidate, but for schools like Harvard and Princeton, you really never know. Same for Yale and Columbia, but lesser so.

Ojectively with your stats, you are very competitive. However, for the selective schools you MUST ace your essays.

Curious as to why you didnt EA Georgetown/Chicago or instead do SCEA for Yale?

how were you team captain of xc as a freshman?! (I prob wouldn’t include that in my app b/c it sounds hoaky/ diminishes the importance of it) - unless you can explain it well on that little line provided

My school is from grades 7-12. I was on Varsity beginning in the 7th grade (they took me off the JH team), and due to “demonstrated potential and success” (coach’s words; whatever the hell that means) became team captain in the 9th grade.

I didn’t do any EA or SCEA because I was lazy. I’m starting to regret that now that the anxiety is eating me up. My essays still aren’t finished for UChicago or Princeton. Or rather, to clarify, I have five essays done per school that I think are absolutely terrible. :frowning:

But on the bright side, I got accepted into Hamptons. My envelope was rescued from the trash this morning (it turns out that my mother nearly threw it out). Merry Christmas to me!

You have a great profile. That and URM status makes your app. killer.

Holy crapola. I’ve just re-read my essays, and realized how much they suck. Seriously.

I can’t even believe I wrote things like that, really. How much will essays written like I was on ‘shrooms hurt? I know that it’ll kill me for HYP & Columbia, but for the rest of the schools, how much will my psychedelic essays sway the adcoms’ decision when they review my application?

I just had to write, if you’re talking about the HBCU, it’s Hampton. No “s.” My aunt and great great grandmother went there, so it was irking me.

I know you’ve already submitted, but

-American University- low match
-Howard University- in
-Hampton University- in (Yay, I was right!)
-Georgetown- low reach
-University of Chicago- low reach
-Harvard-reach
-Princeton-reach
-Yale-reach
-Columbia- reach

I think everyone feels that their essays suck after they’ve submitted. Personally, once I turn in my essays, I never read them again.
Essays are huge for UChicago, so if they’re actually not so great and it’s not just the way that everyone feels, it could change your decision there.

I realized that I had been spelling Hampton wrong all along when I got the certificate of admission.

And as for UChicago, my only chance at redemption is an interview, which I don’t think I’ll get since I can’t travel there and there are no alumni in my area. My essay is sincerely terrible, and the adcom would have to be extremely lenient to even consider me for admission. But hey, there’s always grad school!

Hurm. Well, I just thought I’d link this chance thread to my [actual results thread](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/1064496927-post8.html) in case others were looking through these chance threads to see how people turned out.

And with regards to Yale, Bulldog is just a nice way of saying betch. Or maybe I just haven’t gotten over it yet. sobs hysterically
