ACT scores makes you competitive for Madison. You should know that there is a preference given to in-state applicants, though.

You have a chance of getting in madison, but with your academics (excluding scores) you will be an average/slightly below average applicant.

good luck!

With your act score you should be in good shape for the U of M Twin Cities.

Just one question though, you list your year by year gpa as 3.2, 3.9, 4.1, 4.2, but your composite as 3.1. I don’t understand this, maybe a typo somewhere?

But if you have lots of AP’s and that ACT you should be good for U of M

Those were my junior year quarterly grades

ohhh ok my mistake.

How about the others?

bump .

Iowa State- IN

University of Minnesota-Twin Cities- MATCH

Indiana University Bloomington- IN

University of Arizona- IN

Ohio University Main Campus- IN

University of Wisconsin Eau Claire- ?

University of Wisconsin Madison- LOW REACH

Kansas University- IN

You are in to all of these schools.

The most difficult school you are applying to is Madison. Their middle 50 act scores are 26-30. You have a 31 ACT score and you are an African American. Also, your GPA has been steadily rising. I really don’t see any of these schools rejecting you.

I did notice that the only “small school” you applied for was Eau Claire, which is a decent state school. You might want to think about some liberal arts colleges. But if you want a big school your current list looks good. However, I would add a few more reach schools. Cornell, NYU, Penn???

Good Luck

Thanks. What are some big reaches that I could have a shot at with my stats?

Bump .

I think your a really strong applicant  the hardest one is madison which i think your a high match, butttt im completely knowledgless about many colleges

When (if) you start applying to Ivy schools (or top liberal arts colleges) you will be reaching. Your 3.1 isn’t close to what they are looking for. You need to construct a narrative to explain your low gpa (and to spin your low gpa in a positive light) “I was so caught up feeding the homeless and doing my internship at the New York Times that my grades slipped early on.” Ok, maybe not that overt, but you get the point.

Reach Schools to think about

Any Ivy

Amherst

Williams

Middlebury etc etc etc

If you are interested in the sciences, don’t forget about MIT or Caltech

Plus, there is always Northwestern, University of Chicago, Georgtown, Notre Dame etc…

All of these schools would be reaches. But they wouldn’t be impossible. Check out their faculty and departments. What is a couple of 60 dollar application fees when it comes to the rest of your life?
