Do I need to apply to more safety/match schools? I would be very happy at any of the schools I listed above, but do you think I have too many reach schools and not enough others.

I'll chance back!

you have really good stats in general! you’d probably get into u of m, u of w, and northwestern, but it’d be a little harder to get into harvard, princeton, stanford, etc, as most people there have taken ap calc bc as sophomores and such.
you have a lot of volunteering & ecs though, so you have pretty good chances :)

Across the board perfect objective scores and very strong subjective ECs? You’re going to have your choice between quite a few of these.

So do you think I need more safeties?

Bump…

I dont think you need more safeties, as long as youre fine with U Minnesota and U of Washington. You really should have nothing to worry about.

Thanks for your response! Anyone else?

Wow! Your application is fantastic, especially since you are from Alaska. You will be fine.

I’d be surprised if you don’t get into at least one of those reach schools. Not only do you have awesome stats and good ECs…you’re also from Alaska. You have to remember that these schools are all looking for geographic diversity. They want to brag about having students from all 50 states!

Haha, yeah I’m hoping being from Alaska will help. Thanks for your input!

Does anyone know if I can apply to U of Minnesota and U of Washington early along with Harvard SCEA? I think I remember hearing state schools can be applied to at the same time as an SCEA school.

Bump…

Bump, any more opinions on my chances?

It’s looking pretty good, and being from Alaska should be a plus. Grades and SAT are of course awesome, and ECs are strong too! Good luck :)

I really think your into them all. You look like the perfect applicant. As long as your essays are good you should have no problem getting in. Good luck. Thanks for chancing me back.

Harvard (EA): reach for everyone, but you look extremely competitive
Princeton: same as harvard
Stanford: mid-reach
MIT: reach
Brown: low reach
Penn (legacy): low reach/match
Cornell: match
Northwestern: match/in
Duke: match
University of Minnesota: in
University of Washington: in!!!

haha everything looks great! good luck penguinito!

Thanks blambdaj! And thanks for chancing me back.

Most of the ivies are reaches, which is the same case for everyone.
Penn is definitely a much lower reach.
Cornell seems like a low reach.
Duke: Match
U of Minn: Def. in
U of Wash: in

I agree with everyone else on Penn, being a legacy will really fare you well and I’m sure they would be interested in the fact that you’re from Alaska. Lucky.

The other ivies are reaches for everyone.

I think you should apply to more safety and match schools just so you have more choices. U Wash in St. Louis or Seattle? Seattle’s deadline is 12.1, not sure about St. Louis though. For Seattle you’re for sure in, St. Louis I’d say yes as well. U of M yes.

Out of all the ivies I think that you have the best chance at Penn and Brown, if I were to come to any conclusions. You are a strong applicant though, regardless. Good luck!

What everyone else said is right. Just make your essay reaaaalllly make you sound interesting. As you’ve already grabbed their attention with being from Alaska, if you’er able to personalize your essay you’ll definitely get into atleast 1 or 2 of your reach schools.
