I never thought I'd be making one of these chance threads but now as we're getting closer to the date I'm getting worried that my list was too reachy. What are my chances for these schools? Did I shoot too high?

My new school doesn't rank anymore

Mentoring younger students in school

My list:
Amerst, Swarthmore, Columbia, University of Michigan (applied on deadline :( ), Wellesley College, USC (MANY students from my school get in here with lower grades), University of Pittsburgh, Harvard (my parents' insistence. )

Thanks!

your sat looks good! what’s your Gpa and what classes are you taking?

I don’t have a GPA because I do the IB Diploma. I got 42/45 which is a pretty high score. In my earlier school I got 94.71% for my final (only finals really count in India but anyway I had an upward trend). I don’t know what GPA is. We don’t have things like honours or APs here but the IB program is considered the most rigourous course load.

Thanks for looking!

I’ll be honest, I don’t really know much about some of your schools. I do know about michigan, harvard, pittsburg, USC and columbia though. harvard is a reach but it’s worth applying to make your parents happy. I think all the others are pretty good matches.

USC in California or South Carolina?

^ Southern California. Very popular school with my HS.

^^ thanks - that’s why I applied. I don’t expect to get in but it’s worth it to keep the peace :p

Oh! Well you have a very good shot at all of the schools you applied to.
The ivies are a crapshoot, though.
Good luck!

Thank you. Anyone else?

Oh OMG totally forgot to add, I applied to Middlebury as well.

Oh and I wanted to add, I am making this post because I want to see whether I need to apply to any more universities or not. Since I am an intl I may want to apply to unis in my country if I have little chances at most of these unis. And the apps process for these unis begins in March so I want to have some idea. Don’t want to wait till April and then start the process in a panic. Thanks for your help!

Well I’d expect a reject from Columbia/Harvard, considering the enormous competition for international students. To be honest, you have a good chance everywhere else. I’d say to expect an acceptance from UMichigan, but I don’t know if applying on the deadline had any negative impacts.

Also, did you apply for financial aid?

^ Thanks for the honest info. I was expecting a rejection from H and hoping for an acceptance to Columbia but I guess this is the worst year to apply since they got on the CommonApp.

No, I did not apply for financial aid.
