Thanks so much!

bummmppppppp… sorry

Good ECs, relatively good GPA, and decent SAT. However, for places like MIT, the Ivies, and Stanford your resume may make you a high reach candidate. I would recommend pushing your SAT, especially your Math, up to at least 2300, so you can be in the top 75% even there (MIT has a range to about 800 Math). Remember that Ivies and probably Stanford routinely reject salutorians, 2400 SATers, valedictorians, and other people will amazing stats. For Brandeis, Wesleyan, and Scripps you’re probably in; for Harvey Mudd you should push up your SAT Math and possibly take more math-related ECs, for a focus. Good luck!
Yale: high reach
Stanford: high reach
Brown: high reach
MIT: high reach (all of these are for everyone)
Scripps: match
Wesleyan: low match (>75% chance)
Brandeis: match
Harvey Mudd: match

Lookin good. The things I see missing right off the bat though are awards/honors and leadership.

Directing a play is leadership in a sense but not an outright leadership position. If you can pick up a leadership position somewhere it’ll look nice; it’s not a huge deal, given the directing, but just something to look out for.

As for the awards/honors, you should really seek out ways to validate your skills; Math skills would be preferred, but artsy or anything else is fine as well. Submit artwork to competitions or magazines, see if there are any mathematics competitions you can get involved in. Even if you’re just winning little awards at local events, it gives validity to your work.

The Chemistry band thing is quirky and pretty funny- if you could do ANYTHING to give validity to that, I bet it would be pretty helpful (whether it be making money on iTunes or just doing a few local performances).

Research/internships is always look very good as well, whether or not it pertains directly to mathematics.

Anyways, just some random thoughts/ideas. Not going to chance you, not really a fan of “chancing.”

I too love the Chemistry band thing! :)

As for art competitions, check out the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. You may have heard of this competition already - it’s pretty prestigious, especially if you get a national award. They have all different categories for art. It seems like something that could validate your work and would be fun to work on entering!

… half asian/white girls are extremely pretty.

anyways, im sure youll make it into at least 1 ivy league.

Mudd, Wesleyan, and Brandeis: target
Scripps: low reach
The rest: best damn schools in America; getting in is rough for everybody. Good luck, though. Knock on wood!

Any chance you’d chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1118399-chance-theatre-acting-inclined-junior-ill-chance-you-back.html

Thanks for the advice! I think I’ll take the SAT again, shoot for higher math at least.

For leadership, would the artistic-director-for-theater stuff look good? Designing stuff and telling people how to paint it? :P

I’m worried that the deadlines for art award-type things may have passed already, at least for this year… but we’ll see…

yheafreak: thanks for being really helpful.

For leadership, it MIGHT work, but you should probably bulwark it with something else. A long-term, named position perhaps, or another gig as artistic director.

(Chance back! Please!)
