I know these chance threads can become blocks of texts so I will keep in nice and simplistic :]

Full Year Internship @ Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center as a Photographer

Will submit art work. [I got a 5 on the AP Photography exam, my photography teacher said my work was highly unique and certainly had style, the professional photographer I work with also said my work was unique as well as good.]

My essays will be very whimsical and lighthearted, and will focus on my love for science and art.

Schools: Cornell, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Princeton, Stanford, University of Chicago, UPenn, Washington U. in St. Louis, Yale, and University of Washington

Thank you for reading and chancing! [hopefully haha]

Oi, that was stupid of me, since I am also a red. Surprisingly, you intern five minutes away from where I intern, and getting an internship at Fred Hutchinson as a high school student is pretty amazing.

Your love for photography and science is evident.

I can’t tell you specifically, but let’s just say that I could see the building outside of my window, as well as many, many rainbow sailboats.

As for improvements…

Numerically, you are SOLID. Your GPA reflects your academic achievements and interest, not to mention your SATIIs and ACT are GREAT. Your SATI is great, considering a perfect score for Math and Reading subsection, but it’s great to see that you aren’t taking any chances.

As for ECs, I have yet to read a photography EC, and definitely not photography used for lab purposes.

If you are applying to Yale, will you be attending the Yale-Brown-MIT information in Seattle City Hall tomorrow (Wednesday)? Definitely a plus for finding out admissions standards. :)

^^
Ah, I forgot to comment on the actual improvements. Leadership, perhaps? If your school does not already have one, chartering a National Arts Honor Society or founding a photography club would be like killing two birds with one stone. You get to enjoy your favorite medium of art at school and learn leadership schools for life.

@samsunimono
I can’t make it to the meeting. My volunteering and work schedule prevent me from doing so :[ I’m actually going to found a chapter of the National Arts Honor Society at my school.

Thanks! I’ll be sure to post some up once admissions are through :]

I would be open to more suggestions / chances!

I try to be honest:
It would be good to know which major you take.
Good grades and SAT, but not so good EC’s.
Photography is ok, but are there no awards or similar?
I cannot find your passion in science in your EC’s.
BTW: I love photography too, some of my works shown in the underground of Berlin, but i won’t submit an arts supplement. You should also just if you intend to major in arts.

Chance Back?

Obviously your stats are good…only real thing is I dont see a ton of awards and your ECs are lacking (but only slightly).

-I bet you get into at least one of the mid to upper tier ivies!
Good Luck,
Robbie

Yeah…statistics wise, I agree with everyone above. But IMO, WashU would be the PERFECT school for you. I hope you apply, get in, and go there…seriously! But it is pretty difficult to get into all of these schools, with the exception of UofWash.

You’re an exceptional student, with grades to match your artistic prowess. I think you’re a match for almost every school you’ve listed, with the ivies being low-reach/reaches. But given the angle with which you’re applying (as an artist), I think your chances for these schools are really great!

Your test scores seem good and your art should help you out a lot depending on the quality of your work. The non-ivies should be easy for you except maybe Johns Hopkins.
