Asian male from okay (API score is 797, if that matters) public high school in Southern california(Ventura County). My goals are UC's/CSU's/and a few privates in CA. Here are my stats:

1) UC/CSU gpa is 3.5 as of now (4.16 on 5.0 scale,3.250 on 4.0 scale)
2) ACT is 27 as of now, aiming for 28 in June
3) KIWIN'S club member for 2 years
4) SAT US History= 680, SAT Math II=650
5) Public Library Volunteer for 2 years
6) 1 year of sections editor(academic) for yearbook
7) 1 year of business manager for yearbook
8) about 300 hours of community service from library and KIWIN'S.
9) Honestly, I'm an okay writer, so my essays will be generally okay.
10) Job as waiter at a restaurant past 2 years 20 hours/week(average)
11) Only taken 1 ap(Euro) 9th to 11th grade, plan on 4 ap's senior year(Calc AB,APES, AP MicroEcon, Gov AP) and 8 honor classes 9th to 11th grade.
12) Planning on two community college courses this summer( Sociology and history of rock music, planning for A's)

So as you can see, I'm not the average applicant here on CC, I have probably the lowest gpa out of all my close friends.

So can you guys chance me for all the UC's, Cal Poly Slo&Pomona, CSULB, and CSUN

My majors for cal poly slo is nutrition, cal poly pomona is biology, all the uc's are biology, csun and csulb are also biology.

Thanks!!!11

not sure about pomona.
most UC’s most likely.
UCLA and UC berk are reaches.
get the SAT/ACT higher and you’ll be fine.

not pomona college, cal poly pomona, lol

well actually, your not really an ‘average asian’ unless you have 4.0 2400

just kidding. but if u can reach 30 on the ACT and gpa 3.7, with in-state I’d say you have an ok chance at UCLA. probably in at UC-SD and other uc’s except berkeley, usc

hmm.ic…I’m not aiming that high, my top two choices are actually Cal Poly Slo or UCSB.

Your unweighted GPA is pretty low.

If your top two choices are cal poly slo and UCSB, I’m sure you’ll get into them.
Btw if your major is goign to be bio… Take the SAT II for bio just saying

I heard bio is actually impacted at all UC campuses, I was thinking of applying to nutrition/food science/agriculture, something like that, because I’m ultimately a pre-med student.

Your unweighted GPA is pretty low so make sure you stand out in some way. Everything else needs to be good…
My unweighted GPA was about a 3.26 when I applied to college and I got into some pretty decent schools. However, I had a pretty good hook (I’m a female computer scientist). Good luck!

UCB,UCLA,UCSD- Extreme Reaches
UCI, UCD - High reach
UCSB- low reach
UCSC/UCM/UCR- Match
Cal Poly- low reach/match

UCB,UCLA,UCSD- extremely difficult
UCI, UCD - Reach
UCSB- low reach
UCSC/UCM/UCR- Match
Cal Poly- low reach/match

just to put things in perspective…there was a korean at my school…he had a 3.14 GPA…he still got into Umichigan…dont get pessimistic!
