Thank you!

Need a LOT OF AID!

How on earth do you get top 15% with a 72% average? Sorry you’re not getting into Dartmouth or Chicago, idk enough about the others.

Cant really judge too well without GPA but, i reckon with your sats, darthmouth and chicago is going to be a super high reach, but again, depends on your gpa
your ec’s seem quite solid though

@ Nosike : See, we have a huge senior class strength. 1200 kids.
The deal is, our junior year is horrifically tough. So, thats how!
My seniors have gone to Princeton and Yale with 75%'s in their Junior year but they had solid SAT’s! Like 2200+ So that sucks for me.
I counting pretty much on my ACT, though!

Koreancomplex: Yeah, I know. I know. Thanks anyway! :)

Bump! Bump!
Anyone else?
BUMP!

I studied abroad (In India) for the first two years of my high school and the first responder misunderstood the grading system in Asia. When I was there, 75%-100% was an A, 65%-74% was a B, 55%-64 was a C, etc…
All the tests are graded like AP tests, and you only have one final that determines your grade.

@ fishyfishy : Yeah, I know. But unlike what you said about AP tests, we get marked throughout the year. Weekly tests, mid terms and the finals ofcourse!

BUMP! Anyone else?

Dartmouth, midd and Chicago are average? They are huge, unlikely reaches. If you can afford to be full pay, good shot at the rest.

Slum children? Really?

As for chances…

Dartmouth ED - High Reach; fortunately I think they’re aid blind even for internationals. Still, it’s a long shot.
Chicago - Chicago’s acceptance rate for internationals is like 10%, and most of those students don’t get aid. You almost certainly won’t get in.
Middlebury - Mid-High Reach, depending on if they’re need-blind internationally.

The rest are also kind of iffy if you need aid. You should get into most of the rest, but don’t expect any big scholarships.

Chicago is ranked like 5th in the world, it is by no means average. You really have very little chance at getting in there or Dartmouth.

As an international, it’s going to be extremely tough for you to gain admission into a school in the U.S. with your GPA and SAT. Your ranking helps you, but it doesn’t justify a downward trend.

False

True

@ Phuriku - Yeah, whats wrong with that? =/
@ The rest - Guys, I know that Dartmouth and Chicago arent average schools and that they’ll be huge reaches for me, I just wanted a opinion.

Just Bumping this up as this is my last chance thread before I actually apply to colleges!

Don’t trust anyone here.
Only the way you portray yourself will determine if you get into certain colleges.
Play up the fact that you’re international
I’m half international and I’ve tried my best to tell people here in America that an 80% in Asia is like getting a solid in A in a class. People who haven’t actually studied in Asia have a hard time picturing this.
We’re both in this together! We’ve just got to show ourselves in a unique light and hope that the international admissions department understands us.

@ Fishyfish: Lets hope so. But I’d still like to get some views.

Bump, you guys!

Playing up the fact that you’re international only helps if you’re a URM.

I’m assuming the OP is Indian (from India), so that’s not the case.

More bumps guys.
Please?
Pretty please?
