Well, I really want to get into a good comp sci./engineering college, but I feel like my stats are ehh. I want to apply to Carnegie Mellon (Early Decision), UIUC, Georgia Tech, UT Austin, U. Maryland, UMich, NYU, Rutgers. (EAs wherever possible) Which ones can I get into??

Essay: I'll work early on my essay. I really think I can pull of good essays since I love to write!

So... Chance me please!!!

carnegie mellon a match imo maybe better

Haha I would love to go there. Thanks!

I think CMU might be a high match, but most likely will be a reach.
Georgia Tech is exceedingly hard to get into if you are not from a southern area…
UIUC is a high match, reach area.

I think everything else except maybe UMich should definitely be a school that could be considered a match.

I don’t think slushy was accounting for the fact that you’re applying to SCS within CMU. It’s going to be a reach. UMich CoE is a much more feasible reach. Definitely apply EA there; it’s rolling admissions, so you’ll want to get your application in early. UIUC engineering is well-regarded, but I’m not sure how difficult it is to get into. I think you should be good for the others, with the possible exception of NYU.

Your list of schools is eclectic. If you don’t mind me asking, what are you looking for in a college besides strong CS? NYU and UT-Austin, for example, will probably provide quite different college experiences (though you certainly may end up enjoying both). I only ask because I’m a CS-oriented senior that’s been through the admissions process, and if I had known as a rising senior what I know now, I would have definitely refined my list a bit.

@experientiadocet I’m definitely looking for a fun college environment. I want to enjoy tose four years in college! I’m also look for a college that would give me a secured job placement, and decent internships. I understand that NYU and UT Austin are completely different haha. UT is much better for comp sci, and is basically opposite in terms of weather/atmosphere and all that when compared to NYU. NYU is closer to my house, and I love the college environment! but its not necessarily known for comp sci… :frowning: Would it be smart to apply there? And also, I thought UIUC engineering would be relatively easy to get into, given it’s high acceptance rate (70%) I’ve visited U of I and thought it was pretty cool. I was hoping that I would be set for it haha.

BUMPPPPPP. Anyone else?

bump i’ll chance back
