Chance an Average Student for MA Schools! (BC, BU, Northeastern, Babson, Bentley etc)

Hey, I'm a rising senior from MA that is interested in attending a business school, hopefully in Boston

Gender: Male

Location: Highly competitive public HS in MA, among the top 5.

Ethnicity: Asian-American

GPA: 3.3 Unweighted and 3.6 Weighted. My freshman year I did poorly because of transferring to a new school (3.3 Weighted) but I have had an upward trend ever since.

Class rank:
We don't have specific class ranks, but out of the 500 or so people in my grade, I'm about top 50%. (I know, not too good =()

SAT/Standardized Tests:
Here is where it gets a little better.
SAT: 2090 - 780 Math, 630 Reading, 680 Writing (10 essay) I took it twice, and on the second time I did better in all sections. I might retake for the third time in November because I think I can do better =)
SAT IIs: 710 - Math I and 800 - Math II. I plan on taking Spanish in Oct and hopefully getting at least a 650
AP: 5 - Environmental Science
I plan on taking AB Calc, and Psych at the end of senior year

ECs:
Tennis:
Junior Varsity Tennis - One Year (freshman year)
Varsity Tennis - Three Years (Soph, Junior, and Upcoming Senior year)

During my Sophomore year, I played as an alternate and our team made it to the semi finals in the state tournament. During my Junior year, I played as a member of the first doubles team and our team made it to the finals of the North District tournament. As for playing for college, I would be able to play for a DIII school.

In School:
-Class Treasurer - Three Years
-Peer Tutor - One Year
-Graphic Designer for School Newspaper - Two Year
-FBLA Member - Two Years (Future Business Leaders of America)
-Some notable electives I've taken (C Programming and Webpage Design)

Work/Volunteer Experience:
-Technical and Customer Support Representative - Two Years
-Freelance Web Design (I make, buy, and sell websites - some websites I've sold for 500+).
-Intern in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Rhode Island Hospital (for a summer)
-CIT at a Chinese Youth Culture Camp - Two Years (one week during each summer)
-During highschool, I've probably amassed around 400 community service hours
-I DJ for an online radio station for fun =)

Honors/Distinctions
1st Cyber-security @ FBLA Statewide Competition
Some award for having 200+ Community Service Hours in a year (Silver medal presidential something? I'm not exactly sure)

Recs/Essay
I think that both of my recs will be pretty strong. One is from a former dean of admissions of a top ivy league school. The other is from my Spanish teacher that I have been with for a few years, and she loves me.

I think I'll be able to write a pretty strong essay as well =)

Senior Schedule:
-English IV
-Spanish V
-Physics H
-AP AB Calc
-AP Psych

Schools

NYU
BC
Brandeis
Babson
BU (Early Decision -School of Management)
Northeastern (Co-op program)
Bentley
UMass
UConn
Clark
WPI

I'm applying EA to all the schools that have it as well. I hope that my decent SAT scores will make up for my low gpa, and that my EC's and Recs will further my cause =)

That's my potential list right now, I may have to add another safety or two?

But thanks in advance for chancing me. After your done chancing, just link to your thread and I'd be more than happy to go ahead and chance you =)

thanks for chancing.
I wouldnt recommend doing EA to everywhere, cause if its like ED, then once you get in, your stuck there, and have to withdraw all other apps. If its not, then go for it. I dont know about too many of these, but...
NYU- your test scores are really good. and you seem pretty well rounded, you just dont have a really good strength of schedule, so I would say low reach/reach, assuming your not going for stern. If you are, then reach.
BC-Reach
BU-match/low match

Thanks for chancing me =)

Just to clarify, I wanted to apply ED because if I didn't get in (if I got rejected) and I got in somewhere else EA, then I think, at least for me personally, I would love to have the security of knowing that I have a college to go to =)

Any other chances?

By the way, if you chance me, leave your link and I'll chance you!

NYU- low reach/high match
BC/Brandies- reach
BU/Northeastern-match
WPI- high match

The rest I am not sure of, and thanks for chancing me

Thanks for the chance =)

I just really want to study business in Boston, but I'm worried about my grades holding my back =(.

Were there any circumstances that caused lower grades? If yes you may be able to explain it to an admish. officer and get in to the higher schools.

I think in at UConn, BU, NYU, and Northeastern. Your SAT scores are pretty good.

just make sure you read the apps because many schools won't let you do EA if you're going ED somewhere else

pearlgirl: Thanks, I'll keep that in mind =)
MPerfectionist: Thanks for the chance, makes me feel a little more secure, but I think NYU is still a reach due to my grades
Stargate: There were no circumstances that caused the lower grades. Just me moving to a bigger school district, and underestimating the amount of work and the difficulty of the classes I had.

Anymore chances =) Please be sure to leave a link if you want me to chance you as well!

Oh crap I forgot to mention in my post that I've taken two years of CCNA (in school) and I plan on becoming certified.

NYU - Low reach/Reach
BC - Match
BU (Early Decision -School of Management) - Match
Bentley - Safety/Match
UMass - Safety

Thanks for chancing me

Thank you for chancing me =)

Does anybody have any suggestions in terms of other colleges that might be a good fit for me?

Any other chances?

JAY!!! haha i'll chance u here bro
NYU - hate to break to u, but its a long shot, mainly cuz its in the top 5 for undergrad business and with ur GPA, it just won't do it
BC - reach, again GPA
BU - I think its a match becuz of ur decision to ED
Brandeis - Really now....u rlly wanna go there? Reach(same reason as BC)
Babson - High match
The rest of the schools u listed u have a pretty decent chance at all of them.
WPI??? Thats an engineering school...

Thanks Sushi =P

Any other chances?

I may as well chime in, I think BC is a bit of a reach but you never know. BU I would say match, Babson I would say match, Bentley- safety, UMass- safety. NYU will probably be pretty hard. Good luck though! Those are some great schools and Boston is awesome!
