Chance an average student? :) Will chance back!

<p>I'm only a junior. I'm looking to major in film studies/film production. </p>

<p>I'm a female from California.</p>

<p>GPA: 3.8 weighted this year, but my previous GPAs have been a little lower, probably around the 3.6 weighted range.</p>

<p>SATs: 590 math, 670 CR, 620 writing.
total: 1880 (this is my first time taking it, I plan to take it once or twice more.)</p>

<p>APs and honors: Honors Bio, Honors English (3 years so far), Honors Chem, AP US History, AP Euro, AP Environmental Science.</p>

<p>ECs:
-written more than 40 pieces of creative fiction, published online
-danced competitively for 5 years with a studio.
-dance team at school which has won first place at a national level.
-co-president of my high school's Literary Magazine Club for two years.
-secretary of a culture club.
-vice president of a Great American Bakesale club, which donates money to feed hungry children. (This club is also my main form of community service, I so far have around 250 hours of community service.)
-tutored Algebra for two years to middle school children.
-won silver place at a regional level for National History Day (for a film).
-NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month, where one attempts to write a novel in a month) for 3 years.
-participated and helped run a major event for Relay for Life.
-certified HAM radio operator.</p>

<p>I've taken 3 years of French so far and am hoping to take French 4 Honors or French 5 AP next year.</p>

<p>I'm not completely sure of my chances as my GPA and test scores aren't top notch, but please chance me. :] I'll chance you back!</p>

<p>I think you should definitely try bumping up that SAT score, it’s good, but it can be better :)</p>

NYU- NYU’s film program is INSTENSE. I’m going to have to say high reach, because you don’t have outstanding ECs relating to film, sorry :confused: But you can do it!!
University of Washington- in.(you’re in the SAT range for this school)
UCLA (Probably impossible)- Eh, you can do it with a higher SAT, you’ve got a better chance than a lot of people since you’re in-state. :slight_smile:
USC (Another impossible, especially for the film program.)- mid reach.</p>

<p>if you get your SAT’s up, i know you will, then id say you are solid. i got an 1840 my first time, second time 1890, third time 2050 so your goal of over 2000 is definitely doable. my 2050 was all in one sitting</p>

Emerson- Good chance
Sarah Lawrence- Good chance
Loyola Marymount- match imo
Chapman- I say match
U of Chicago (I know, very high reach)- It is a high reach, but unless you’re the perfect student, chicago’s a reach for everyone.
UW-Madison- Raise your SAT a bit and I say good chance
Wesleyan (I know, another high reach)- Again, raise your test scores and its a good chance
Point Park- I don’t much about this university
NYU- Without a higher test score, its a reach
University of Washington- Get your SAT up a bit and I say in
UCLA (Probably impossible)- reach without higher test score
USC (Another impossible, especially for the film program.)- with strong ecs(which you seem to have) and stronger scores you might stand a chance</p>
