Do you think my bad 9th grade year followed by good sophomore and HOPEFULLY good junior/senior, extra curriculars, and increasingly hard classes will get me in to THESE schools? :

University of Wisconsin-Madison

Purdue University

University of Washington-Seattle

Ohio State University

University of Minnesota- Twin Cities

University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign

Wake Forest University

University of Michigan-Ann Arbor

UCLA

Thanks tons!

its really early to tell – but if you increase your gpa in the next year + then i think you’ll have a great shot…but you really need to keep it up and do well in your tests

have the same prob. but the school i want to apply (UCLA) doesnt count my freshman year GPA. but first semester sophomore year ruined it a little (3.3 GPA UW and 3.5 W) but i got a 4.1 second semester and im hoping i can raise it to a 4.2 W GPA by the end of junior year. :P.

well, no offense, UCLA takes mostly in-state students, so ur chances are like nearly nill. wake forest is going to be hard to get in. the other schools, u may have a chance if u try hard. good luck though.

for outstate applicants, u have to have a really high GPA at least 3.4(minimum) to apply for the UCs.

I agree with some other posters. You have a good chance at a lot of schools on your list, but unfortunately you need to take UCLA off. You have no chance
It is very very hard for out-of-staters.

It’s not just UCLA. Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Wake Forest and Washington will all be near impossible to gain admittance to with a 3.1 and a 24 ACT. Even with a 3.3 and a 28 ACT, I don’t think any of those schools are in-range. The GPA is just too low and GPA is the most important factor most public schools. Wisconsin publishes a table giving you a % chance of admittance, and with a 3.1 and a 24, he’s got a 10% chance of admittance, and I would say UCLA, Michigan and Wake Forest are all more difficult to get into, while Illinois and Washington are similar.

I would definitely shoot for Minnesota, also look at other schools where you will receive a tuition discount through the MSEP (Midwest Student Exchange Program), such as Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri. Don’t overlook the many options in Minnesota and neighboring states that give tuition discounts.

^^^Yeah, I agree. I’d definitely remove UCLA, UMich, and Wake Forest
