I think your chances have to be very good. If I remember correctly, there was some question as to whether you would make the coach's list. If you're not Wesleyan material, then, I don't know who is.

I think you have a lot going for you. The guitar is really cool and you have the rowing on your side as well. I think you'll get in. I'm EDing too so hopefully we both get in and I'll see you next year :) Good Luck!

I recieved my second SAT II back and got a 680 on Math I, in addition to the coaches list for rowing, the classical guitar teacher at wes submitted a letter of rec for me to the admissions office, I guess I'm just worried about my SAT and SAT II scores holding me back, I'm rather confident about everything else...so we'll see I suppose

they're not THAT low. gpa def isn't too low, and with tough schedule. Sats are in range. and plus the guitar thing u're very well rounded. and ppl act like getting recruited doesn't take extreme time and energy and hard work......saying that w/o rowing you probably wouldn't get in (which is kind of an obnoxious thing to say to begin with) is kinda like saying w/o those killer SAT scores u prob wouldn't get in. and rowing contributes more to a school than SATs.

No, the GPA is fairly low for Wesleyan. At least, it's low when considering it in conjunction with class rank; I think the statistic is that something like 3/4 of Wesleyan students were in the top 10% of their high school class. Not being in the top 15% would hurt, but could be made up for by great SATs; you don't have great SATs. However, obviously rowing is a hook that throws the whole rest of the chances game off balance. It's pretty unpredictable.

I'm reading the gatekeepers. say,
admit minus/ deny plus. guitar? nah we need french horn. But he can row. OK in? but SAT?
But really, they'll leave you alone if you don't brag anymore.
leave him alone, he'll know in what, two week or so?

I'm not too far off am I? I mean US News says the CR/M range is like 1300 to 1475 and Princeton Review says the average Highschool GPA is 3.8, and my school doesn't rank or do percentages, they just do deciles...

Like I said, if the book tells true story and it still stands as fact, Wesleyan gives very fair and through reading for every single application. So relax, because you can't change who you are or how you are brought up, kinda privileged yah? they'd go hard on you score wise but not everyone rowed foreign bodies of water, right?
gotta admit SAT range had grown alot and one Wes mom told me that they consider ridiculously serious about those scores but that is for your own good, they want kids who can handle the work, your grades have shown that, and courses you have taken.
If I were you, proceed with back up ED 2 or RD application instead of freaking out about every negative post you get, 'course you can’t do anything about it anymore.
You won't have time or energy if things doesn't work out and deadline won't wait.
