<p>Alright. From one Kolkatan to another (although studying in Singapore at the moment)...let me break it down for you. I've never heard of some of teh awards you've mentioned. And being on teh Telegraph honor roll is not the high point of your application as quite a lot of students are mentioned in it. Your rank's good, but there's nothing spectacular. Your prefectorial positions may elevate you...but as far as I know anotehr person's the head boy at bhs- my friends study there. He told me the head boy had been called for an interview by harvard, which shows that you are probably not head boy. But then again I'm not sure as I am an outsider. I can only tell you one thing. DO NOT LIE OR EMBELLISH TRUTHS ON YOUR APPLICATION. Do not make the SP Bannerjee abdges or Reynold's "all-india" prizes teh highpoints of your application. The admissiosn officers might have some knowledge of the Kolkata scene.....</p>

<p>i am sorry, Ayush but along with your typing, your knowledge about my school sucks too.. the head boy in our school is from class x and the president of the student council is from class xii.so, i was elected head boy in x and president in xii, and i believe u can understand that the current head boy cannot apply to Harvard; he is but 16 years old, giving his x boards and i my xii. as for the awards, the Reynolds' scholarship info.that you have is really less too.but again, i don't wanna justify my achievements to you..sorry if i was a bit rude. thanks for going through the thread.good luck.</p>

<p>OK ... here's a rundown of the highs and lows of your application on an objective basis. </p>
<ol>
<li>The awards you have mentioned don't really matter much and are more often than not seen as unnecessary padding to your application, something which the colleges don't really like. </li>
<li>If your music is REALLY big, it may help you stand out. And the word "really" is really important. Did you send an additional music supplement? If so, and if it was good, it's gonna help you!</li>
<li>Be more elaborate about "varsity" sports. Your approach is too casual towards them. </li>
<li>You are NOT supposed to see your recos and mentioning that in an open forum isn't pretty discreet.</li>
</ol>
<p>On the whole, you are there. Someway, somehow. All depends on your essays. You fall in the group of a googol of Indian applicants, now ask yourself ... what new do you bring to the table? If you can answer that, you might be in. </p>

<p>I am an international undergraduate applicant and I have the pleasure of studying at the same school in which Vandit is studying. I have also applied to a few Universities and have been selected in quite a few of them. So with the little knowledge of Universities that I have, I can tell you Vandit IS one of the best candidates that Kolkata has to offer. All his achievements are perfectly true and yes HE IS the student council President.And as for his awards which seem insignificant to a few, well they may be but very very few of them get them. Anyways like Vandit said, we do not need to justify his achievements and all I can tell you is that Vandit has been awarded the Best outgoing student (Mr.BHS) award for this year. And since you know a bit about BHS and its standards I think you will agree that it is not a measly achievement.</p>
<p>And Oh ya I are thinking that Vandit has got a friend to answer for him...let me tell you honestly that the poor guy does not even know that I am on CC!! Kudos!!</p>

<p>hey guys. terribly sorry for that comment, bt just had to clarify some points. just speaking on what i knew from my friends in bhs, who were initially in my school. then i got a scholarship to study in singapore, and kinda lost contact with the kolkata scene, best of luck with your applications and admissions. i'm sure both vandit and his loyal friend will get into the best universities and do india proud. JAI HO!</p>
