Just curious - you have worked at three hotels. Are you at all considering hospitality administration? Cornell, BU, and NYU all have programs that are pretty good (well, Cornell is the best Hotel School in the world!). If you do decide to go with hotels, you have a great shot at those schools, even Cornell! Just a possibility…

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/743817-should-i-retake-sat-2s.html</a></p>

haha no way. It’s just one of those jobs I worked because it’s just less annoying then working at McDonalds, etc. No way, do I want to major in Hospitality administration…

bring up that SAT score, and i think you have a good shot at JHU and cornell. not too sure about carnegie mellon tho, seems like a high reach.

chance me baaaaaack s’il vous plait http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/730173-chance-me-please.html</a></p>

If you bring the SAT’s up to about 1900, BU becomes more attainable. 2150 for Cornell, JHU, and Tufts. CM you might need a perfect SAT, but I say go for it! Good luck!

Chance back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/748621-chance-ivies.html</a></p>

I hardly think NYU is a probably…I hate to say this (it’s not pc) but considering the diversity they have, it may not be a shoe in for this indian. I see this issue a lot with the asian crowd even at my school. Don’t worry I’m not racist, my Dad’s side is part indian. The meat of your app is in the scores and while you have great, impressive EC’s, I think Tufts would rather you have a better SAT score than an officer position. You should focus more on your academics, and less on your EC’s this upcoming year. Use first semester to take the SAT, and break atleast a 2000. You have such amaziong EC’s, and I really hope you get inot your dream school because it seems like your intensely capable of handling the coursework. Raise that SAT because it sticks out like a sore thumb. Colleges don’t want to risk their U.S. News rank, so you need NEED NEED to raise it. Majoring in pre-med means your science and math scores need to be amazing…and their approaching, but not quite there. Otherwise, I think you’ll get into most of your maybe’s and with a few improvements, some of your reaches.

CHANCE ME! Be thorough…

Thanks alot for the deeply thought-out reply. I’ve visited NYU, and I like it, but would much rather go to BU. I just kind of have it there in my list. I will be taking the SATs again this October for ED, and will be taking the ACTs again.

It’s kind of interesting that you’re telling me to focus less on ECs. I’ve pretty much slacked off by not really participating in them, but after I realized how important they are, I started to get involved. Maybe i’ll start focusing on my SATS even more over the summer…

Thanks again!

You will most certainly get into BU. Definetly CGS. BU is not difficult to get into by any means they have an acceptance rate of 55%. Northeastern will be more difficult than BU. Trust me I know from personal experience.

Carnegie Mellon - Reach

Your GPA is great, so that could help you out at a lot of these schools.
I honestly don’t think Cornell is that high of a reach for you like everyone else has been saying, but then again because you are Indian the standards (esp. at Cornell) are higher. I won’t go through every school because I basically agree with what everyone is saying. U of R is a lock for you.
chance me back?

thanks everyone! anyone else?

heyy :]
your weighted gpa is pretty much awesome, or so it would be at my school. my school doesn’t allow gpas higher than 4.0 (lol). but yeah i’m looking at umass amherst and mcphs as well. i’m of indian background tooooo, but from new jersey. mcphs…you are definitely in. and if you are for some reason rejected, i will be very scared. haha. i think it is a good school that prepares you for a job well;; some people just dislike it because of the size of the school (really small). i visited though, and i actually liked it. Umass was nice too! I definitely do not have as high of a gpa as you…mine’s only like a 90-91. i know, i kind of screwed up in some classes… but yeah, umass likes “high-achieving” students like you. As for BU, Northeastern, and GWU, i think you have goood chances there! Cornell, JHU, and Tufts will be harder to get into, but I think you have a really good transcript…so good luck!! & idk how people are judging for NYU and CMU…because i’ve seen that people wrote reach for you. From my school, quite a few people went to both schools, so I wasn’t sure about those. But i know they are way competitive when it comes to applications. oh AND i agree with whoever said if you improved your SAT score a bit, you’ll look even more impressive! idk…if you’re planning to take the SAT again…i know i am. well, sorry if none of this really helped. but i’m a stressing soon-to-be senior as well, and i felt like rambling on and on. GOOD LUCK! :)
